The stars trekked out en masse for the LA premiere of the new "Star Trek" movie, and what better way to show their Starship pride than by giving the photogs a Vulcan salute? It's how people who have never kissed anyone blow a kiss, only in space, and way nerdier. From the best to worst, here are our the celebs showing some red-carpet Trek-love.
Hayden Pannetiere may not have been alive when "Star Trek" first aired, but she flashed a mean Vulcan hello. Though she's a newbie, so it takes a little hand-eye coordination.
With her years of supermodel expertise, Heidi Klum is not one to back down from a challenge. She not only gave the greeting, but winked AND kissed simultaneously. Red-carpet multitasking at it's finest. Also, about a billion geeks' heads just exploded.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan waves a Vulcan hello to the press, and wants to make sure everyone sees it. Bonus points for the smug grin.
Rainn Wilson gives a back-handed Spock salute, and pretty much kills it. His nerd-celeb appeal surely attracts many a Trekkette. This is clearly not his first time flashing geek gang signs.
Maybe Zoe Saldana didn't give us the true wave, but we give her some credit after going to about a dozen of these premieres. She just lives and breathes Vulcan-life.
Jon Heder and his twin brother Dan do everything together, so they clearly had to coordinate their wave. Though they were so impressed figured it out that they failed to actually, you know, show it to anyone.
Playing Scottie in "Star Trek," you better believe Simon Pegg has this greeting down pat. Otherwise it's back to the BBC for him.
Kendra Wilkinson sticks to the only pose she knows: kiss-blowing. You can't tell from this angle, but she totally has her index and middle finger separated. Nailed it!
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott don't exactly know how to rock Vulcan style, but you know what? Tori's feeble half-wave is about as much as we'd expect. More, really.
Emma Roberts didn't give us a wave, but she certainly dressed in theme. Very haute-space-couture. It's really "Klingon" to those curves (hey-O!)
Chris Pine looks pretty uncomfortable at his own premiere, but we feel for the guy. We're guessing he's heard "Do the Vulcan!" about, say, 500 times in the past few weeks. He still gets points for being so darned good-looking.
Amanda Bynes may not know proper Vulcan protocol, but it looks like she might be doing her interpretation of a "Beam me up, Scotty" pose.
Winona Ryder poses with fellow cast member Zachary Quinto. Not one for campy red carpet moves, Winona gives nothing but a sassy smirk. Acting in the movie gives her sufficient Trekkie cred.
Seth Green fails to give a wave, though it's forgiven due to his sprained arm. You can't blame him, though, because he doesn't know any better. He comes from the planet Terrible Hair.
When asked to flash the "Live Long and Prosper" sign, Leighton Meester gives a "I'm way to cool to know about any of this" grin.
With a pout and hands in his pockets, Peter Facinelli wins for the most blatant 3rd grade-style refusal to show us any sort of Vulcan-love. It looks like his mom just asked him to finish his broccoli before having dessert.
