Lady Gaga wins best original song Oscar for "Shallow"
Lady Gaga, along with fellow songwriters Andrew Wyatt, Mark Ronson and Anthony Rossomando, took home the Academy Award for best original song for "Shallow" from "A Star is Born" on Feb. 24. The superstar singer made sure to thank director, duet partner and co-star Bradley Cooper during her acceptance speech and encouraged other would-be artists to continue dreaming. "It's not about winning, but what it's about is not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it," Gaga said onstage.

R. Kelly indicted on criminal sexual abuse charges
R. Kelly turned himself into Chicago police on Feb. 22 after being indicted on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse related to four alleged victims. In the days immediately following his arrest, the R&B star was unable to post 10 percent of his $1 million bond required for release. He's denied the charges against him.

Fans left disappointed by Maroon 5 Super Bowl Halftime Show
Maroon 5 is one of the best, but you couldn't tell from their Pepsi Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Feb. 3. The rock band received some scathing reviews from fans who criticized the group's performance as "boring, unfulfilling and unnecessary." Maroon 5 was joined by rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi. The one shining light, many fans felt, was the stellar gospel choir that backed up the major stars.
ICE drops the charge against 21 Savage that led to deportation order
Attorneys for Immigration and Customs Enforcement dropped aggravated felony charges against 21 Savage as the reason for his deportation order, according to reports published on Feb. 13. (A previous drug conviction was vacated, making it off-limits legally, it's been argued.) The rapper's legal team told Buzzfeed that authorities are now only seeking his deportation on the basis that he came to America from his native Britain in 2005 and overstayed his visa as a child.
Ariana Grande achieves a feat just like The Beatles
Ariana Grande has made history! The pop superstar became the first act to land the No. 1, 2 and 3 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart since The Beatles achieved the same feat in 1964. Ariana's "7 Rings" remained the top song for a fourth straight week while "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" debuted at No. 2 and "thank u, next" jumped from No. 7 to No. 3.
Ryan Adams accused of sexual misconduct, abuse by multiple women
Indie rock troubadour Ryan Adams has been accused of sexual misconduct, abuse and harassment in a new exposé from The New York Times that was published on Feb. 13. The singer allegedly committed numerous offenses against several women, including allegedly sexting a 14-year-old girl and being "psychologically abusive" toward his ex-wife, "This Is Us" actress Mandy Moore. He has denied the claims.
Miranda Lambert allegedly dumps salad on woman days before announcing marriage
Miranda Lambert had a headline-making month. She reportedly dumped her salad on a woman's lap during an argument at the Stoney River Steakhouse in Nashville on Feb. 12 — then four days later announced her surprise marriage to an NYPD officer no one even knew she was dating. In the days that followed, reports revealed that she married Staten Island, New York-based cop Brendan McLoughlin in late January after meeting him last November.
The Monkees' Peter Tork dead at 77
Peter Tork, the bass guitarist for '60s pop group the Monkees, died on Feb. 21 at 77. His sister, Anne Thorkelson, confirmed the news but did not reveal how or where Peter passed away. The music star had battled a rare form of tongue cancer a decade earlier.
Jennifer Lopez announces new tour in celebration of her 50th birthday
Jennifer Lopez is going back on tour! The superstar singer announced that she will be touring the States in celebration of her 50th birthday in July. "This summer, I decided I wanted to do something big for my birthday, since it's a big birthday," she told Ellen DeGeneres on Feb. 13. "I'm going on a U.S. tour, it's called 'It's My Party'… We're only doing 25, 28 shows, something like that. It's just a small amount of shows, but we'll be out all through June and July."
Peter Frampton diagnosed with degenerative disease, announces farewell tour
Peter Frampton revealed that he suffers from body myositis, an incurable condition that causes muscles to slowly weaken over time, during a "CBS: This Morning" interview on Feb. 24. The musician shared the news just a few days after announcing his farewell tour. "The reason I'm calling it the 'farewell tour,' again, is because I know that I will be at the top of my game for this tour and I will make it through this and people won't be saying, 'Oh, you know, he can't play as good.' I can. But we just don't know for how long," Peter told co-host Anthony Mason.
The Jonas Brothers to reunite six years after hiatus
The Jonas Brothers are coming to a stage near you! Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas and Joe Jonas are reportedly reuniting six years after announcing their split. The trio, who sources say are taking meetings in London, will reportedly be releasing new music and a documentary and will operate under a single moniker, "JONAS," dropping "Brothers" from their name.
Lindsey Buckingham recovering after open-heart surgery
Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is recuperating at home after undergoing open-heart surgery in February. His wife, Kristen, shared the news on Lindsey's official Facebook page on Feb. 8, writing, "While he and his heart are doing well, the surgery resulted in vocal cord damage. While it is unclear if the damage is permanent, we are hopeful it is not."

Michael Jackson's family slams new sexual assault documentary, files lawsuit
Michael Jackson's loved ones are "furious" about a new documentary that claims the pop singer abused two men when they were young boys in the 1990s. The Jackson estate filed a $100 million lawsuit against HBO on Feb. 21 to halt the release of "Leaving Neverland," which is scheduled to premiere on March 3 and 4. "The Jackson Estate will seek all damages proximately caused by HBO's reprehensible disparagement of Michael Jackson, which could exceed $100 million should HBO succeed in the damage it is intending to cause to the legacy of Michael Jackson," the complaint reads.
Keith Richards opens up about quitting hard liquor, cigarettes
Keith Richards is all about his new healthy lifestyle. In a recent interview with MOJO magazine, the Rolling Stones guitarist revealed that he gave up hard liquor and cigarettes after partying a little too hard for his 75th birthday in December 2018. "By January 1, you're knackered. And that's a good way to start a New Year, right?! I'm drying out now! I've knocked the hard stuff on the head. I have a little wine with meals, and a Guinness or a beer or two, but otherwise… no. It's like heroin — the experiment is over," he said.
Deaths of James Brown, wife investigated in new CNN series
James Brown's 2006 death is being questioned thanks to a new CNN investigative series. At least 13 people have spoken out in the documentary to call for an autopsy or a criminal investigation into his death. "He changed too fast," James's physician, Dr. Marvin Crawford, said. "He was a patient I would never have predicted would have coded… But he died that night, and I did raise that question: What went wrong in that room?" The 1996 death of the music legend's third wife, Adrienne Brown, is also explored in the series as a potential crime.
Tekashi 6ix9ine confesses to selling drugs, shootings and robberies in guilty plea
Tekashi 6ix9ine's entire guilty plea was made public on Feb. 14, revealing that the rapper allegedly participated in several violent crimes. Tekashi pleaded guilty to using a weapon in the attempted murder of an individual, paying a fellow gang member to shoot at a rival near New York City's Times Square and possessing "with intention to distribute" one kilogram of drugs "with a detectable amount of heroin."
