Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the stars who found love, suffered heartbreak or experienced some other major event in their love lives in mid-August 2018, starting with the former power couple who just can't seem to quit each other… It's been more than a year since Jennifer Garner filed to divorce Ben Affleck — and more than three years since they separated — but the duo are still technically married. The Blast reported on Aug. 10 that the Los Angeles Superior Court is threatening to dismiss the pair's divorce if they don't file the terms of their settlement soon. According to the webloid, Ben and Jen are actually close to wrapping things up but have yet to seal the deal. On Aug. 15, Us Weekly shed some light on why: "Jen wanted to give Ben the time and opportunity to work on his health and sobriety [before the divorce]," said a source, adding that the actress "isn't in a rush" to making things final. According to the insider, Jen wants her ex to "be the best father he can be" and "wants what's best" for their three kids. "Jen just isn't willing to settle the custody issues until she's 100 percent certain that he's clean," continued the Us Weekly source. "She'll wait for him to prove he is taking it very seriously." Ben, meanwhile, "would have liked to have finished [the divorce] and closed the books sooner," said the insider. Now keep reading for more of the week's biggest celeb love life updates…

Matt Lauer has agreed to pay wife Annette Roque up to $20 million in their divorce, Page Six reported on Aug. 14. "Matt's bending over backwards to give Annette everything she wants because he feels so guilty," said a source. (The disgraced former "Today" show anchor lost his job in late 2017 over "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.") But Matt is hoping to hold onto Strongheart Manor, the 12-bedroom "dream home" that he and his wife of nearly 20 years share with their three children. The estate, which they bought from Richard Gere for $36.5 million in 2016, is located on 6.3 acres on the peninsula of North Haven near Sag Harbor, New York. "He would love [to keep] the Hamptons home," said the Page Six insider. Matt and Annette are both reportedly living at Stongheart Manor currently and are "getting along amicably," according to Page Six. "Things really have settled down. Matt and Annette are getting on and they're both spending time with their kids. They hope to settle the divorce very soon," said a source.

Page Six reported on Aug. 13 that Danielle Staub filed for a temporary restraining order against her husband of just three months, Marty Caffrey, following an incident at their home on Aug. 12: He allegedly attempted to lock the reality star out of the house and then took down her family photos. According to Danielle's legal paperwork, "He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, agitated and confrontational." Though Marty called the police on Danielle, the cops ultimately sided with the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star and ordered him to vacate the premises. Page Six also reported on Aug. 13 that Danielle has retained legal counsel to move forward with divorce proceedings. "Danielle has received a letter advising her to retain counsel, which she has," her rep told Page Six. "The two attorneys spoke and both sides agreed to keep this matter private. It's disappointing to her that only 48 hours later that understanding is apparently no longer being honored." (Danielle has previously accused Marty of being "much more concerned about press coverage" than their marriage.) On Aug. 14, Radar Online reported that Marty also obtained a restraining order against his estranged missus, alleging that she threatened to "stab him in the neck" after she learned that he planned to end their marriage. He also claims that she appeared "disheveled and under the influence of something" during their confrontation over the family photos. According to his restraining order request, "Over the past year, [Danielle] has threatened to stab [Marty] in the neck at least a dozen times. … [She] has hit [him] in the face and chest on multiple occasions with open and closed fist and scratched him on the face and lips during one incident. … [She] has thrown items at [him] in the past when she became angry. … [She] has thrown a stapler and kitchen utensils at [him]. [She] goes on screaming tangents loud enough for the neighbors to hear whenever [he] disagrees with her. [She] would scream derogatory things about [him] and his children." Danielle's rep denied Marty's claims in a statement to Radar.

Couples therapy may be doing the trick for Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson. On Aug. 12 the duo were caught on camera packing on the PDA in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where they vacationed with Kendall Jenner and her rumored boyfriend, Ben Simmons. Just days earlier, Khloe seemingly made the statement that her relationship status is "complicated" by holding a green cup during Kylie Jenner's 21st birthday party — during the bash, guests were asked to identify their relationship status by using either pink cups to indicate they're taken, yellow cups to indicate they're single or green cups to indicate "it's complicated."
Though there were reports back in March that Robin Wright secretly married Clement Giraudet in late 2017 or early 2018, the duo reportedly had a wedding in southern France on Aug. 11. On Aug. 12, model-actress Dylan Penn — the "House of Cards" star's daughter with Sean Penn — took to Instagram to share a video of herself dancing at a wedding in southern France, which she captioned, "Weddin vibes." The following day, a fan Instagram account posted two photos of Robin wearing a white dress and embracing a man who appears to be Clement at what appears to be the same venue where Dylan had those "weddin vibes." The super-private pair have yet to officially confirm their newlywed status.
On Aug. 13, People magazine reported that Bethenny Frankel's late off-and-on love Dennis Shields proposed to her in April. "She didn't wear the ring because they had some things to work out first," said a friend. "There were some hurdles to overcome before she could make that level of a commitment. She loved him. He's her family and her best friend and her confidante. Her partner and her business partner." Continued the pal, "Very few people knew about the proposal. … He's proposed before — but never with a ring. … She didn't say no. … She would have loved to have married him, but there were some hurdles to overcome first." Dennis was technically still married to his estranged wife, Jill, when he died of a suspected opioid overdose in his New York City apartment on Aug. 10. Two days earlier, on the Aug. 8 episode of "The Real Housewives of New York City," Bethenny opened up about the prospect of marrying Dennis, saying that while she loves the businessman, she could never marry or live with him . "It's a really hard thing to realize, that someone you love, is just — doesn't mean they're the right person. … And I wish he was," she said. On Aug. 11, Page Six reported that "friends are wondering if [Bethenny's] admission set off a deadly tailspin" for Dennis, who opened up about his relationship with the reality star just a few days before his death. "We remained friends the whole time that I was married — nothing but friends," he explained on the Aug. 5 episode of the "Listen Up Show with Mitchell Chadrow" podcast. "And then right after Jill [who was friends with Bethenny in high school] and I got separated, Bethenny and I started dating, and we've been together on and off now for I think it was almost four years. That's what she told me … But we do break up a lot." According to the People source, it's unclear whether or not the couple were back on when Dennis died. "She talked to him this past week. He loved her and she loved him," said the insider. "She would have loved to have married him, but they were still working through their issues. She wanted to make it work."

According to People magazine, the duo arrived separately to The Nice Guy, an upscale restaurant and lounge, and then left in the same car with a few friends. They kept the party going at Avenue, arriving side-by-side to the nightclub. Two days later, they were seen together at Nobu restaurant in Malibu. Back in 2011, when Chloe was just 14, Dylan said he had "a crush" on her. The actor, who's five years older, later walked back his statement when he realized she was underage. Dylan hasn't been seen with longtime love Britt Robertson since earlier this year. (He met the "Tomorrowland" actress while shooting 2012's "The First Time.")
Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott prompted speculation that they might be headed toward an engagement after they were spotted shopping at a jewelry store in Calabasas, California, on Aug. 15. According to E! News, the duo spent about an hour inside of Polacheck's Jewelers before leaving hand-in-hand with "a couple items." According to another E! insider, "Kylie and Travis have definitely discussed getting married and she has expressed what type of ring she would want Travis to buy her. … It would definitely be over the top." The source added that "it's only a matter of time" before the rapper — who recently referred to the makeup mogul, with whom he shares daughter Stormi, as his "wifey" while wishing her a happy 21st birthday on Instagram — pops the question.
It was a big week for the women of the "Real Housewives" franchise. The Sun on Sunday reported on Aug. 11 that Liam Payne is dating 18-year-old YouTube reality star and Instagram model Maya Henry — the daughter of super-rich San Antonio, Texas, attorney Thomas J. Henry — just six weeks after parting ways with 35-year-old Cheryl Cole, who's the mother of his son, Bear, following two and a half years of coupledom. The singer and the pretty teen were reportedly seen together at a Dolce & Gabbana bash in Lake Como, Italy, in early July, at a yacht party in Cannes a few weeks later and then at the Bulgari hotel in London in early August. (According to The Sun, they checked out within hours of each other.) "Liam and Maya get on well — and she's a stunning girl," an alleged friend told The Sun. "They have kissed a couple of times, but he is in no rush to date again and certainly isn't ready for a serious relationship. Liam is simply focusing on work at the moment, and above all else obviously his main priority is Bear." According to another insider, Liam "gets on really well" with Maya, her brother (male model Thomas Henry) and "all of their gang." Said the source, "[Liam is] too savvy by now to follow Maya on social media, as he knows he will be linked to any girl he does. He enjoys hanging out with the [Henry] family because they're a great bunch and, clearly, have no interest in his money or fame." But she's not the only beauty to whom he's been recently linked…

"I'm still trying to work it out, not work out getting back together, but I'm still trying to figure it out," she continued, later adding that she's "just trying to take care of myself the best way that I can." Continued the nurse, "You guys know some eligible bachelors, hook me up. … They don't have to have money. I'm okay with that. I just want someone to love me for me. It's never been about money. Like I said, I work hard. I wouldn't quit my job. I drive my cute little Honda. I'm okay." Rumors that the co-star couple had called it quits first kicked off after they deleted photos of each other from their Instagram accounts following the late July "Southern Charm" Season 5 reunion, which Thomas did not attend. (At the time, Ashley told People magazine that she and her beau were just "chilling out on the social media front" but "doing great.") The duo have weathered an excess of controversy in recent months: Two different women have accused Thomas of sexual assault, while Ashley has faced accusations from her castmates that she's actually a paid escort.

She also accused him of lying and claimed that she paid for him to get hair plugs. He then accused her of cheating on him with Meek Mill and of stabbing him. "Remember the night you cut me and i almost died the police and ambulance had to take me out the crib on a stretcher and I had to lie and tell them I was trying to kill myself so they wouldn't take you to jail. When things like that start happening more Than once it's time to dip," he tweeted. Safaree also tweeted of their breakup, "Towards the end it got toxic and I just packed up and left. I did things for spite and so did you. I don't wish you bad and I don't want us back together just like I'm sure you don't. "I saw my husband in a photograph before I saw him [in person] and I knew when I saw his photograph," she said during the interview, which hit the Internet on Aug. 14. Kelly first laid eyes on her future hubby during the process of casting a love interest for her "All My Children" alter ego, Hayley Vaughan, and a casting director handed her Mark's headshot. "She showed me his picture — and Bruce, I'm not this person — like at that point, I was not a hopeless romantic," Kelly recalled. "I never thought about getting married. It never occurred to me that I would grow old with someone. I just thought I would be living my single-girl life in the city. … I had no responsibilities and I was earning a good living on the soap opera because I was there for almost seven years before Mark got there. I was a baby when I got my job. … When I saw him, the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before [me]. Like, I saw it. And I don't believe in any of that — and now I do because of that moment." Mark made his debut on "All My Children" in February 1995. He and Kelly tied the knot in May 1996.

She's Asian, so I'm gonna have tiny little Asian babies. It's going to be adorable — a bunch of Sean Lennons running around the house, that's what I'm looking for." The "Home Alone" actor added that he and Brenda are living together: "I have a good life out here. I have a pretty little family — a pretty girl, a pretty dog, a pretty cat, and all that stuff. We're gonna move. We're doing the house thing and all that kind of stuff." Quipped Macaulay, "It's one thing to exchange keys. It's another to get a cat." The duo were first linked in mid-2017.

The actress said she and first husband Don Johnson, whom she remarried after divorcing second husband Steven Bauer, "were imprinted on each other." She called their decision to remarry "sort of a natural karmic thing" because their daughter Dakota Johnson "was meant to come into the world." Melanie then described her marriage to third husband Antonio Banderas as "more exciting than playing a part in a story." But the Oscar nominee isn't interested in tying the knot again: "I really don't think it's relevant for anyone anymore," she said of marriage. "But especially if you're 60 and you have four kids and you're living the life you've always wanted. Then why get married? It's, like, I would love to fall in love and have a romance, a relationship, but I haven't. I keep looking. I've had a couple of lovers but not a relationship." The "Working Girl" star fired back, "No, Jesus," when asked if she'd ever try a dating app. "Tinder or something would just be so tacky, I think," she said. "I think I can find someone on my own. But if you know of anybody, please tell me," she added of getting set up.

He also explained how he met the singer-songwriter: "We met at a game night I host at my place," he said. "We were friends for a while & soon after fell in like with each [other] and then upgraded to love." As for what they like about each other, "Kelsi is smart, kind, creative, loyal & honest. Kim, meanwhile, posted a video of the duo, who share three children, joking, "Oh, just like an old married couple, on your phones." Unfortunately for Kim and Khloe, Scott and Sofia Richie are still going strong.
