Anne Hathaway
While growing up in New Jersey, Anne Hathaway sang in the school choir and appeared in several local theater productions. At 16, she spent a season as the overachieving daughter on the critically acclaimed Get Real. In 2000, she took a timeout from Vassar to portray an unlikely royal opposite Julie Andrews in Disney's The Princess Diaries, a sleeper hit that cemented her future in film. She dusted off the tiara for the sequel in 2004, the same year that she also played a cursed princess in Ella Enchanted. (She moved up to queen in Alice in Wonderland in 2010). She started to shed her kid-friendly image after going topless in Havoc and Brokeback Mountain in 2005. (There's more nudity in store when she reteams with Jake Gyllenhaal in Love And Other Drugs in 2010.) After holding her own against the master Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, Hathaway earned the freedom to bounce between comedies (Get Smart, Bride Wars) and dramas (The Dark Knight Rises, One Day). Rachel Gets Married nabbed her first Oscar nomination and she became the youngest person ever to host the awards ceremony the following year. She'll likely return to the show as a nominee in 2013 for her gut-wrenching performance in the musical Les Miserables as she's already nominated for a Golden Globe. Her personal life is on an upswing as well after a difficult 2008 break from her four-year relationship with Italian real estate developer Raffaello Follieri, who was sentenced to prison for money laundering, wire fraud conspiracy and other tax crimes. She started dating actor Adam Shulman in 2009 and the twosome tied the knot in September 2012 on the California coast.
