Selena Gomez hits the Cannes red carpet for the first time
Need proof that break from the spotlight served Selena Gomez well? Look no further than the 26-year-old's Cannes Film Festival debut, which the singer and actress made on Tuesday, May 14, as the French film event got underway with its opening ceremony and the premiere of her new Jim Jarmusch horror-comedy film, "The Dead Don't Die." The picture of Hollywood elegance, Selena stepped out in an all white bustier and textured, long skirt, courtesy of Louis Vuitton, which she accented with jewelry from Bulgari — including an 88.16-carat diamond necklace — according to People. As the singer and actress' makeup artist, Hung Vanngo, shared on Instagram, Selena's bright red lip and icy eye makeup was all Marc Jacobs. Selena, meanwhile, seemed to be feelin' a bit zombie-esque before she headed to her glam session, giving the camera a healthy snarl for a selfie she posted before the premiere. "Hi Cannes…you're very pretty," she captioned the shot. After taking time away from the public sphere to tackle her anxiety and depression last year, Selena has cautiously returned, bit by bit, while making time for her family and friends and continuing to focus on her mental health. This spring marked her first red-carpet appearance since her 2018 hospitalization — at WE Day in Los Angeles — as well as a foray into swimsuit design for her friend, Theresa Mingus' new line. "The Dead Don't Die," which features a seriously all-star cast including Bill Murray, Carol Kane, Adam Driver, Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny and even Iggy Pop (a zombie natural), opens in the U.S. on June 14.

Paris Hilton hints that she knows Kimye's baby's name
Does Paris Hilton know what her onetime bestie, Kim Kardashian West, named her new baby boy? She certainly acted like she did when "Extra" checked in with her this week. "[I spoke to Kardashian] when she was in the hospital. So exciting," Paris told a reporter for the show on Monday, May 13 (via Us Weekly). Asked directly if Kim and her husband, Kanye West, had shared their fourth child's name with Paris, the heiress teased, "It's a surprise." A few days earlier, Kim's tweet about her new addition, who was born via surrogate, left some fans believing she and Kanye had named the baby, "Bear," since she ended her post about how he's "the most calm and chill of all of my babies so far" with a bear Emoji. Kanye's Chicago background, the fan theory goes, could have inspired "Bear" because of the NFL team, the Chicago Bears. Seems like a stretch, but given the names of the kid's siblings — North, 5, Saint, 3, and Chicago, 1 — who knows?

Ariel Winter kicks her new red hair up a notch
Yowzah. Ariel Winter sure seems to be embracing her new life as a redhead. The "Modern Family" star debuted a new coppery 'do earlier this month, complete with an appropriate "Little Mermaid, "🧜🏻♀️ part of yourrrrrr worrrrrld 🧜🏻♀️" caption reference. At this week's Upfront Party hosted by EW and People in New York City, however, she wore her hair even longer, possibly a shade darker and cascading with styled, crimson curls. After her initial Instagram premiere as a redhead, Refinery29 checked in with her stylists, Tim and Tabitha Dueñas of Nine Zero One Salon. "To make the style fit Ariel's personality, we kept the haircut very versatile … we keep the perimeter blunt and full, and focused the layers around the fringe and the interior of the cut," Tim said at the time. They were going for, "'70s beach goddess, that casual cool vibe," with an eye to the fact that certain colors would work better than others for Ariel. ":For her style and skin tone," Tabitha said. "she needs to be either dark-dark, bright white, or intense red — nothing in between."

Gabrielle Union opens up about her first Mother's Day as a mom
Gabrielle Union knows all too well that Mother's Day isn't sunshine and rainbows for everyone. Prior to welcoming her first child, Kaavia, with Dwayne Wade via surrogate in November, the "L.A.'s Finest" star suffered nine miscarriages and multiple failed attempts to conceive with IVF. "I think for a lot of people who have been on a fertility journey, Mother's Day brings so much pain," Gabrielle, 46, told Bevy Smith on her "Bevelations" radio show on Monday, May 13, according to the Daily Mail. She took aim with "people who tell you, 'you're not complete until you become a mom,'" pointing out such statements imply the woman in question has no "worth," and saying "Mother's Day brings all of that up." Gabrielle also suggested her family didn't quite get what it meant that Sunday marked her first Mother's Day as a mom. She recalled they told her she'd already "been celebrating Mother's Day with [Dwayne's] boys as a stepmother," to which she replied, "But there is no Step Mother's Day. You gotta stay in your lane." That said, she was careful to remember how she approached Mother's Day publicly. "Ya, I'm doing the work, I'm in the trenches but it's not my day. With Kaav, it felt like this is a day that I'm OK to celebrate loud and proud and stand out front," she said. "But I also tried not to lose sight of for a lot of people it's a very painful day."
Wendy Williams accepts Howard Stern's apology, says she still loves him
Wendy Williams and Howard Stern sound like they've come to a truce. The two began an indirect feud, of sorts, after Howard took umbrage with Wendy's assertion that the shock jock had become too "Hollywood" to achieve his former radio goals, comments she made on "The Wendy Williams Show" in March. Howard responded by calling her out on his own show, dubbing her "jealous," calling her series "dumb" and questioning the health issues that forced her to take a break from work (Wendy suffers from Graves disease). "She disappears for two months, nobody knows why, and now she's questioning me? Thanks, honey…. I never fainted on my show either," he said (via ET), adding, "You're never gonna be me. You don't have my wit and you don't have my talent." But in The Hollywood Reporter's May 8 cover story, he backtracks on that, saying he regrets his tirade. "That was me at my worst," he told THR. "I thought she was saying that I was a piece of s— and I sucked. But as [I hear it] now, I don't see it as an offense at all. If 'Hollywood' means that I've evolved in some way and the show has changed, then, yeah, she hit the nail on the head." Once the story ran, Wendy addressed Howard's change of heart on her show. "By the way, Howard, I read the article with you on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter, and I saw that you mentioned me and that you apologized," she told him during a recent episode. "Howard, you know what, if you never apologized to me ever in your life, you would still be one of the most influential people in shaping my career — you and Oprah, that's it," she continued. "And the idea that you apologized — he went on the air and ripped me a new one for no damn reason, because I knew I was right — then in this article in Hollywood Reporter, it was a thick article, he goes on to say that he loves me and that I might've seen something in him that maybe he didn't see. And that he's kind of embarrassed for ripping me on the air, so he's pulled that from the archives. You'll never hear that on repeat. I love him! And my heart was so broken when he was fighting with me because I wasn't fighting with him!"
Mandy Moore is headed to Mt. Everest
Mandy Moore is making the most of her "This Is Us" hiatus — by climbing Mt. Everest. Speaking to People, the actress shared her plan to travel to Nepal and make her way to the mountain's base camp on a trek with her friend, Melissa Arnot, who works as an Eddie Bauer Alpine guide. "I'm very excited," she says of the journey, which is slated to take nine days on the way up plus a few days to get back down. "It doesn't scare me. It's invigorating! The moments that you push yourself out of my comfort zone are so fulfilling and nourishing," the actress explained. Last year, Mandy visited Mt. Kilimanjaro and it apparently gave her the climbing bug: "That trip really solidified things for me. I discovered my inner mountain girl!" Mandy says she's also "roped [her husband] Taylor [Goldsmith" into hiking," which she made part of the couple's honeymoon in Chile after their 2018 wedding. "I was like, 'Babe, we're going to hike every day,' and he was a really good sport about it," she recalls. "It's a through line in our relationship now. And he totally keeps up!"
La Toya Jackson on how the Jackson family is doing amid 'Leaving Neverland' controversy
In February, Us Weekly reported Michael Jackson's estate was going after HBO for $100 million over claims made in Dan Reed's controversial documentary about two men who say the singer sexually abused them as children. So how is the Jackson family doing now? "We are all holding up very well, thank you for asking," Michael's sister, LaToya Jackson, 62, told Us Weekly on Friday, May 10. The film tackles Wade Robson and James Safechuck's abuse allegations about the singer, all of which have been denied by Michael's estate. "'Leaving Neverland' isn't a documentary, it is the kind of tabloid character assassination Michael Jackson endured in life, and now in death," the estate said in a statement to Us earlier this year. "The film takes uncorroborated allegations that supposedly happened 20 years ago and treats them as fact. These claims were the basis of lawsuits filed by these two admitted liars which were ultimately dismissed by a judge."
James Corden claps back at troll wishing cancer on his family
James Corden is taking the high road after an Internet troll posted a vicious comment about the "Late Late Show" host's family on Twitter, seemingly in response to a segment about Donald Trump's trade war with China. "'It's f—ed up you can't even watch TV without a fat f— spoiling something… Luckily I got to see it before this, but seriously I hope his kid gets cancer," wrote @halfbaked6god. "That is, without question, the single most upsetting thing I think you could ever say about me or my family," James replied. "Please take a minute and think about what you just wrote and whether you want to be a person who publicly says such things.I believe you're better than that x." The dad of three also posted: "Well I saw your hope for my http://son.My hope for yours is that they never get to read that their mother or father would wish cancer on any child as 'a joke'.Because however you defend it to them, they'll never be able to understand how you could do such a thing.Night x." Aryn Drake-Lee gets real about motherhood and more in new podcast
Jesse Williams' ex, Aryn Drake-Lee, was once reluctant to share information about her private life with the public, something that seemed to come hand-in-hand with Jesse's career on "Grey's Anatomy." Two years after he filed for divorce, though, she has a new outlook — and a new podcast on which to share it. The show, helmed by Aryn and her pal Trian Long-Smith is called, "BBSARETRASH," and yes, that's as in "babies are trash," which she says in a "tongue-in-cheek" reference to the fact that they're getting candid about the less discussed truths of parenting and navigating family matters. "Trian and I met last year and became very close, very quickly as a result of connecting through motherhood," she recently told People. "It's a very different lane for both of us to come out and share our voices, and show our faces this way. Our tagline is, 'Two liberated mamas smashing the patriarchy one candid conversation around healing through mothering at a time,'" Aryn explains, noting that "in the hard moments" of life, "that's when you grow." Aryn and Jesse have had plenty of hard moments since they split, too. "When the divorce process started I had two nursing babies, and I am the one that ran our household for the 14 and a half years that he and I were together in the same house. And for our children, and for the creation of the businesses that we built together when I left my career in New York for us to move to California to pursue his, and then as a result built i it … I knew, as the one that was really holding it all together, that I didn't have a lot of room to fall, even though I was falling," Arn recalls. When they split, she says she lost the friends who were her support system, but that ended up working out OK. "It was a blessing in disguise because it was a real slap in the face to see who was around us and why, and at that point it became very clear. And it cleared a pathway for me to make a shift and get back onto a path that was more in alignment with how I wanted to live my life," she explains. "We're entering a new phase of how people move around and take back their voices and show our faces. … I resisted this for the last 10 years, having a public profile, and then I got dragged into it against my will," she says in reference to her public split. "It was possibly my worst nightmare. And then it played out, and now I'm better off for it." BBSARETRASH premiered on Spotify and other podcast platforms on Sunday, May 12.
Lala Kent reveals a drunken trip to Disney World inspired her to get sober
For Lala Kent, it took realizing she'd been drunk for days during a family vacation to Disney World for her to realize she had a problem. On the Monday, May 13, "Vanderpump Rules Reunion" for the cast of Season 7, the 29-year-old announced she recently marked six months of sobriety. 'There were a lot of moments in my life that when I reflect back, I think, 'That was alcohol-driven. That was alcohol-driven,'" she said, according to the Daily Mail. "I went with my family and [fiancé Randall Emmett's] family to Disney World, and I was drunk four days straight, from morning until night. I get on the plane—I'm face-chugging out of a bottle— and the next morning, I woke up and said, 'I will never live this way again.' And I reached out and got help.'" She described her relationship with booze as akin to "an unhealthy relationship, where you can't live without that person, but then they abuse you." Lala first announced she had been working the 12-Step Program in March, telling followers on her Instagram Story that she had turned a corner. "I'm feeling very inspired. I have a heart that is very full right now. Five months ago, I came to the realization that I am an alcoholic, and I am now a friend of Bill W.," she said at the time. "You will never know how much this program means to me. [It] has given me new life. I will never, ever preach to anybody. I'll only speak from my own experiences. I encourage everyone to live their best life."
