On Jan. 19, 2020, the Screen Actors Guild Awards will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. In anticipation of the big night, Wonderwall.com is time traveling to the year 2000 to see what the biggest celebrities of the millennium were wearing on the red carpet at the show 20 years ago… starting with Sarah Jessica Parker. SJP, who was nominated for her work on "Sex and the City," wore this gorgeous off-the-shoulder gray suit from Vivienne Westwood. Angelina Jolie in 2000 had nothing on her future sense of style. The actress, who won her second SAG Award that year (for her performance in "Girl, Interrupted") went for a vampy look in this sleeveless and sheer black embroidered high-low dress with a sweeping train. Pairing the dark dress with nude pointy-toe heels and a pink cashmere shawl downplayed the drama on Angie, who was only 23 at the time.

Meryl Streep made 2000 the year of the pantsuit. At the Sixth Annual SAG Awards, Meryl — who was nominated for her performance in "Music of the Heart" — wore this multicolored long-sleeved tunic paired with flowing trousers and rose-tinted Lennon shades. Meryl played up the touches of gold in her tunic with a matching gold clutch.

Um, is it just us or was Tom Cruise a major hottie in 2000? Tom — who'd earned two SAG Award nominations for his work in the movie "Magnolia" that year — was deliciously dapper in this slim-fitting dark gray suit and that tousled, longish hair and million-dollar smile.

We need a fan to cool off after seeing Charlize Theron in this figure-hugging beaded and embroidered red slip dress at the 2000 SAG Awards. Charlize — who was nominated for an ensemble award along with her co-stars in "Cider House Rules" — paired her sumptuous look with a matching shawl, vibrant red lipstick and glittering diamond jewelry.

While we think simple can also be sexy, we wish Gwyneth Paltrow had put a little more effort into her 2000 SAG Awards look. This sleeveless pale blue gown with an elongated train, which she paired with barely there accessories and messy, crimped hair, gave usually stylish Gwyneth a kind of carefree surfer girl vibe.

Hilary Swank, who was nominated for her powerful performance in the biopic "Boys Don't Cry," shined on the red carpet in this strapless bubblegum pink evening gown. She was accompanied by then-husband Chad Lowe, who was sporting a sexy three-piece suit.

Excuse us, random sir in the background, but you're photobombing a queen. Actress Julianne Moore — despite having her amazing red carpet moment intruded upon — was stunning in this angelic white V-neck gown. The elegant dress gave Julianne a soft, feminine silhouette we think looks divine, especially with her on-point hair and makeup. Julianne was nominated for three SAG Awards that night, including two for her work in the movie "Magnolia" and one for her performance in the film "The End of the Affair."

Let's be perfectly clear: Helen Mirren can do no wrong, unless we're talking about the sheer white shirt she paired with a billowing red skirt and white tank top at the 2000 SAG Awards. The British actress was nominated that night for her performance in the TV movie "The Passion of Ayn Rand."

OK, we're just going to say it: What happened to Cameron Diaz's eyebrows? At the 2000 SAG Awards, Cameron, who arrived in a blue silk blouse and slim black slacks, struck a pose with actress Catherine Keener, who looked lovely in a gathered black satin gown with a keyhole cut-out. Both women were nominated that night for their performances in "Being John Malkovich."

If you ever want to know what real love looks like, take a peek at Denzel Washington and his beautiful wife, Pauletta. The couple, who've been married since 1983, were arm in arm at the 2000 SAG Awards where Denzel was nominated for his performance in the movie "The Hurricane." While Pauletta celebrated the occasion in a bold striped gold gown, Denzel opted for more low-key style in a traditional tuxedo, minus the bow tie.

Every celebrity has a few cringe-worthy red carpet moments and, unfortunately for Australian actress Portia de Rossi, one of those was at the 2000 SAG Awards where she was nominated as part of the ensemble cast of the comedy series "Ally McBeal." While there's no denying Portia is stunning, it was hard to find her amidst a sea of awkwardly patterned zebra print and those high-volume curls.

While we've never been a fan of the shawl trend of the '90s and early 2000s, we think Helen Hunt carried it off perfectly by pairing her flowing white gown with a shimmery beige shawl that picked up the color of the embroidery on her dress. Her date for the night — then husband Hank Azaria, who was nominated for his performance in the TV movie "Tuesdays with Morrie" — looked dashing in his double-breasted tuxedo.

Oh, the drama! At the 2000 Screen Actors Guild, Chloe Sevigny struck a serious pose wearing a pretty pink and red floral-print gown. Nominated that night for her performance in "Boys Don't Cry," Chloe kept her style simple but sexy with minimal jewelry and a bold red lip that let her sheer, sleeveless dress do all the heavy lifting.

Lucy Liu took our breath away in this turquoise cowl-necked evening gown at the 2000 SAG Awards. She was nominated that night for two statues for her performance on "Ally McBeal."

If beautiful, sparkly mermaids came to life, then they'd look like Courteney Cox at the 2000 SAG Awards. She was nominated that night for an ensemble award along with her "Friends" castmates.

We love everything about singer-actress Erykah Badu's bold yellow-and-gold geometric dress and matching head wrap, except the mustard-colored knitted shrug and beige tasseled purse she paired them with that night. Erykah was nominated with her "Cider House Rules" castmates for an ensemble award.

The late Michael Clarke Duncan looked so happy to be on the red carpet with his then-girlfriend, actress Garcelle Beauvais. The actor, who was nominated for two awards for his performance in "The Green Mile," stepped out in style in a suit-and-silver-tie combo while Garcelle looked lovely in a black-and-white dress.

Seven years before they divorced, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and film producer Tracey Edmonds made a stylish appearance at the 2000 SAG Awards. Although neither was nominated that year, both stood out on the red carpet, with Tracey in a fiery sunset-colored chain-link knee-length slip dress and Babyface shining in a black silk suit.

Speaking of wearing all black, actress Camryn Manheim rocked a dark and debonair look at the 2000 SAG Awards in a smart cheongsam pantsuit that featured a subtle damask print on the tunic. She was nominated as part of the ensemble cast of "The Practice."

Lorraine Bracco delivered a high-glam look at the 2000 SAG Awards, where was nominated for two awards. She ultimately took home one — outstanding performance by an ensemble — for her work on "The Sopranos."

We love the low-key, effortless look Angie Harmon delivered at the 2000 SAG Awards. Angie, who was nominated along with her "Law & Order" co-stars for an ensemble acting award, arrived wearing a sheer, pale blue sequined tank dress and some serious diamond jewelry.

Stage and screen actress Jane Krakowski arrived on the 2000 SAG Awards red carpet in a strapless black-and-nude floral-print gown that featured a fringed, feathered train. In addition to looking flawless, Jane was nominated that night along with the cast of "Ally McBeal."

Actress Ming-Na Wen matched the red carpet in this vibrant red halter-style gown with a plunging cowl neckline. She was nominated as part of the ensemble cast of the drama series "ER."

A little more than a year before Hollywood legend Jack Lemmon passed away from bladder cancer, he made an appearance at the 2000 SAG Awards. Jack, who looked dapper in a pinstriped tux and bold red bow tie, won the award for outstanding male actor for his work in the TV movie "Tuesdays with Morrie."
