Fashion hits and misses for April 2017

Spring has sprung! And the stars have been out and about, showing off their best (and worst!) looks. We're rounding up the hits and misses of the month, starting with Bella Thorne. Well isn't this look… lovely? The "Famous in Love" actress attended the 2017 Freeform Upfront in New York City on April 19 in this awful mess — which included a fishnet bodysuit underneath a cropped long-sleeved T-shirt and unbuttoned white pants that you've just got to see from a different angle. Keep reading to check it out, plus more of the best and worst celebrity style of the month!

The side angle gives a better view of the strange unbuttoned white pants Bella Thorne rocked, which gave a glimpse of even more fishnet underneath. Add to that the bulky animal-print boots and the mermaid blue-green hair and it's safe to say Bella served up the worst look of the month!

Blake Lively looked sharp in an emerald jumpsuit at Variety's Power of Women: New York event presented by Lifetime in New York City on April 21. The star's one-shouldered look, which featured pockets and a dramatic sweetheart neckline, was designed by Brandon Maxwell.

Reese Witherspoon also went with an emerald Brandon Maxwell creation this month. The star attended the Tiffany & Co. celebrates the 2017 Blue Book Collection event in New York City on April 21 in this strapless, fitted gown with a sweetheart neckline — another hit.

While we loved the bold color, we weren't obsessed with Zoe Saldana's dress selection for the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" film premiere in Los Angeles on April 19. The shiny, sequined Emilio Pucci minidress was embellished with miles and miles of fringe — which Zoe showed off by doing a twirl on the purple carpet. Do a twirl! Zoe Saldana showed off all that fringe with a spin, giving us a better glimpse of just how much orange fabric made up the skirt of her dress. And though the gold shoe selection certainly complemented the fiery color, we're still not crazy about this wild dress.

A+! Hailee Steinfeld rocked this darling Elie Saab number straight from the runway at the JDRF Imagine Gala in Los Angeles on April 22. The flirty number, which featured multicolored designs on the overlay, paired perfectly with her youthful half-up, half-down hairstyle.

Susan Sarandon went with this bright blue Paul Smith pantsuit for the "Feud: Bette and Joan" red carpet event in New York City on April 18. Though the suit alone isn't exactly offensive, when paired with those unfortunate white suede shoes with red laces, it converted a neutral look into a major miss.

We loved the J. Mendel dress that Alexis Bledel wore to a screening of "The Handmaid's Tale" at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on April 21. The "Gilmore Girls" beauty wore this maroon and burgundy long-sleeved gown, which featured lacy detailing, with a pair of simple black pumps for an effortless, glam look.

Not so red-hot! Kristin Chenoweth wore this awful red leather dress, which featured lace-up detailing down the side, to the "American Gods" premiere in Los Angeles on April 20.

Priyanka Chopra looked lovely at the Harper's Bazaar and Tiffany and Co. Celebrate 150 Years in New York City event on April 19. The "Quantico" star donned a neutral bronze-beaded creation by J. Mendel that featured a high neck and a keyhole cutout that was complemented by her simple and sleek hairstyle.

Adriana Lima underwhelmed at the IWC Schaffhausen Fifth Annual For the Love of Cinema Gala during the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on April 20. This Jason Wu creation she wore looked like it was crafted from golden trash bags, and the strange placement of the cutouts and slits certainly weren't helping matters.

A vision in white! Ashley Graham stunned at the Celebration of the Vanity Fair Founders Fair in New York City on April 20. The model rocked a pristine white one-shouldered body-con dress that she paired with a red lip and black strappy heels for a sophisticated, glam look.

Not so impressive in off-white? Rooney Mara. The actress wore this Burberry frock straight from the runway while attending the Humane Society To the Rescue! Gala in Los Angeles on April 22. The ill-fitting dress featured a lace overlay that sat strangely atop the garment's long sleeves, and it all was even more lackluster thanks to her super-casual hairstyle.

Kylie Jenner wore this cute minidress to the Sugar Factory American Brasserie opening in Las Vegas on April 22. The striped, sparkly metallic mini was designed by Bec & Bridge and looked lovely with her strappy white heels.

A cargo jumpsuit? Only at Coachella. Sofia Richie attended the Midnight Garden After Dark party during the music festival on April 14 in this awful green one-piece, which she accented with an orange sweater draped over her shoulders.

A better side of Coachella style! Leave it to Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio to show how festival fashion is done. The supermodel rocked this cute Rolling Stones minidress during the event in Indio, California, on April 14.

Another Coachella miss? Rita Ora wore this confusing ensemble at the Moschino Candy Crush Desert party during the festival in Indio, California, on April 15. Among the items making up her Coachella look? A funky hat, teal sunglasses, a slinky metallic dress and a Western-inspired belt, plus bizarre cherry-print heeled boots.

Jennifer Hudson looked perfectly spring-appropriate in this cute long-sleeved floral minidress and black peep-toe heels on April 17. The star was in New York City to appear on "Good Morning America."

Sarah Silverman was clearly not red carpet ready at the Turtle Conservancy's Fourth Annual Turtle Ball in New York City on April 17. The funnylady wore denim cutoffs, a plaid shirt and a gray hoodie and finished the look off with (gulp!) thigh-high socks and lace-up boots.

Rosamund Pike went with a classic black jumpsuit at the IWC Schaffhausen Fifth Annual For the Love of Cinema Gala at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on April 20. The Bottega Veneta look, which came straight from the designer's runway, included long sleeves, a plunging neckline and a shiny belted waist.

Katherine Heigl attended the "Unforgettable" film premiere in Los Angeles on April 18 in this unfortunate bridal-like Blumarine dress with a bizarre sleeve placement on her left side. Next!

Fab in floral! Tyra Banks rocked a floral Roberto Cavalli pantsuit to the 2017 Freeform Upfront in New York City on April 19 with a purple blouse underneath for an extra pop of color.

Sorry, Kelly Osbourne, but this look is a miss. Kelly attended the BELLA New York Spring Issue Cover Party in New York City on April 24 in this printed black dress, which fell flat when combined with her obnoxious beauty look: lavender hair and a sparkly green lip.

More florals! Melanie Griffith sported the essential spring print at the Humane Society To the Rescue! Gala in Los Angeles on April 22, where she rocked this cute long-sleeved floral dress with black heels.

Katy Perry attended a dinner hosted by Chanel in celebration of the Gabrielle bag in Los Angeles on April 6 in this unfortunate getup: black pants with a striped waistband, a completely sheer patterned top, what looks to be a sports bra and a shiny cropped track jacket.

Sienna Miller donned this darling minidress by Chloe at the premiere of her film "The Lost City of Z" in Los Angeles on April 5. The frilly confection featured tiered levels ending in delicate lace, and she finished the look off with a pair of metallic heels.

Charlize Theron donned this Dior disaster for the "Fate of the Furious" premiere in New York City on April 8. The sheer gown, which was plucked straight from the runway, was composed of vertical stripes with a pair of black briefs and a bra visible underneath. Though we weren't fans of the long-sleeved frock, we did appreciate those thigh-high black boots!

Demi Lovato sported this gorgeous floral Tadashi Shoji gown at the "Smurfs: The Lost Village" premiere in Culver City, California, on April 1. The star's dress featured a split that put her black strappy heels on display.

We adore Jennifer Aniston, but her outfit at the Season 3 premiere of "The Leftovers" in Los Angeles on April 4 disappointed. The one-sleeved leather dress came right from Brandon Maxwell's runway, but the odd pocket detailing made it look ill-fitting on the superstar.

Michelle Rodriguez looked amazing at a screening of "The Assignment" in New York City on April 3 where she rocked a stylish two-piece ensemble comprised of an off-the-shoulder red and purple crop top and high-waisted black slacks. We love how she kept her long, dark hair down and wavy.

Zoe Saldana delivered a major miss at the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" premiere in Tokyo on April 10. The actress wore this Loewe ensemble, made up of what seemed to be a dotted sheer dress shirt with a silky panel down the front, a black bra and layered pants featuring the same dotted print as her top.

Amber Heard opted for a polished menswear-inspired ensemble at the Fourth Annual unite4:humanity gala in Los Angeles on April 7. The actress sported a crisp white blouse with a tiny bow at the neck and a pair of black pants and peep-toe pumps for a sophisticated look.

Yikes! Eva Longoria wore this monstrosity while attending the Global Gift Gala in Madrid on April 4. The star's dress from Italian label Genny featured a wide-legged silver jumpsuit underneath what appeared to be a pale blue dress with a plunging neckline.

Well, this is unfortunate. Fergie attended the Daily Front Row Awards in Los Angeles on April 2 in this monstrosity, a design by Dsquared2. The long-sleeved minidress included massive bows on the shoulders and strange excessive panels on the sides of the skirt, among other elements that solidified it as a miss.

Victoria Beckham looked chic sporting a two-piece look from her own line, Victoria Beckham for Target, at the collection's launch party in Los Angeles on April 1. Her blouse and trouser combo featured white cuffed sleeves and a calla lily print that's perfect for spring.

Paris Jackson wore this matronly, massive Yanina Couture frock at the 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on April 1. We weren't fans of the odd cape draping off the back, nor the strange rainbow detailing down the front.

It's not often that Anne Hathaway lands herself on the hits list, but her jumpsuit at the "Colossal" film premiere in Los Angeles on April 4 did the trick! The Vivienne Westwood piece, which had an interesting scalloped neckline, three-quarter-length sleeves and a nice crop above the ankle was one of her best looks lately.

Chanel fail! Lily Collins attended Chanel's dinner in celebration of the Gabrielle bag in Los Angeles on April 6 in this ill-fitting blue-trimmed tweed jacket and skirt combination from the design house. We expected more from the typically on-point fashionista!

Adorable! Gina Rodriguez attended Deadline's The Contenders Emmy event in Los Angeles on April 9 in this darling LBD, which featured frilly white fringe. Her super-simple strappy heels were the perfect addition to the sweet look.

Ouch! Need an example of how black with white frilly detailing can backfire? Look no further than Paula Abdul's bizarre gown at the Fourth Annual unite4:humanity gala in Los Angeles on April 7. The dress featured sheer paneling, a lot of excessive ruffles and a white polka dot overlay that made for a pretty awful combination.

"Scandal" star Darby Stanchfield delivered a fashion hit at the "Scandal" 100th episode celebration in Los Angeles on April 8. The actress rocked this gorgeous green jumpsuit for the occasion and kept her red hair loose and wavy.

That's what you chose to wear to your 21st birthday party, Austin Mahone?! The singer celebrated his big day at REHAB Beach Club in Las Vegas on April 8, and even though it was a pool party, we're not sure that excuses that Mike Tyson tee and backward hat.

Victoria's Secret Angel Jasmine Tookes looked lovely at the Fragrance Foundation Awards Finalists' Luncheon in New York City on April 7. The stunning model donned this white Zuhair Murad number, which featured a plunging neckline and beautiful white lace detailing at the neckline and waist.

Too much! Freida Pinto wore one of the loudest outfits imaginable for an appearance on Britain's "Lorraine" TV show in London on April 10. The actress's belted striped shirt and wildly patterned skirt by LK Bennett made for a painfully bright and contrasting ensemble.

"The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star-turned-"Dancing With the Stars" cast member Erika Jayne perfected the LBD at the 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on April 1. The super-simple dress featured a tiny keyhole cutout and paired perfectly with her pumps.
