In the days leading up to his Aug. 22 return to rehab, Ben Affleck spent time with Playboy's Miss May 2018, Shauna Sexton — indicating that his relationship with Lindsay Shookus had come to an end. (The Oscar winner and the 22-year-old beauty, who also works as a vet tech, dined at Nobu in Malibu on Aug. 16 and then picked up Jack in the Box from a drive-thru before a sleepover in Los Angeles on Aug. 19.) The "Justice League" star and the "Saturday Night Live" producer reportedly called it quits when she decided that she wanted to stay in New York City rather than move into his home in L.A. But X17online reported that "Lindsay got fed up with dealing with Ben's issues, and ultimately that's what led to the end of the relationship."

A week before Jennifer Garner took estranged husband Ben Affleck to rehab, Us Weekly explained why the former couple are still technically married more than a year after the actress filed for divorce: "Jen just isn't willing to settle the custody issues until she's 100 percent certain that he's clean," said a source. "She'll wait for him to prove he is taking it very seriously." Almost every major celebrity news outlet reported that the actress wasn't surprised by her ex's rebound romance with a much-younger Playboy model following his breakup from Lindsay Shookus. X17online, however, added that Jen is just "thrilled" to have the "Saturday Night Live" producer out of the picture. Said a source, "She would rather he be with anyone but Lindsay, since she was the mistress that broke up their marriage. Of course, she thinks it's childish and ridiculous that he's going after a Playboy model half his age, but she'll take it. Jen's worst fear was Ben popping the question to Lindsay and having another baby, so she's relieved she doesn't have to worry about that anymore."
