Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the stars who found love, suffered heartbreak or experienced some other major event in their love lives in mid-July 2020, starting with this apparent love triangle… In mid-May, there were reports that Lily James and "The Crown" star Matt Smith had rekindled their romance while quarantining together amid the coronavirus pandemic. But on July 4, the "Cinderella" actress sparked rumors that she's now dating Chris Evans when the duo were snapped sharing a cab back to the same hotel after spending the night out at a private members-only club in London. (See photos here.) The duo reportedly attempted to avoid being photographed together as they entered the hotel, where the "Captain America" star is staying while he's in town for work commitments. (Lily, by the way, lives in London, where she reportedly shared a home with Matt.) On July 8, the English actress and the "Avengers" star were seen together again — this time eating ice cream cones while lying in the grass at a London park. (See photos here.)

Meanwhile, Chris Evans' on-screen BFF, Bucky Barnes actor Sebastian Stan, was snapped smooching Spanish actress Alejandra Onieva during a day of swimsuit-clad fun in the sun on a yacht off the coast of Ibiza on July 4. (See photos here.) It was the first indication that there's a new woman in his life. Three days later, the pair were seen holding hands during another outing in Ibiza. The "Avengers" star has romanced a number of famous ladies over the years — his former paramours include Leighton Meester, Dianna Agron, Jennifer Morrison and, most recently, Margarita Levieva.

On July 3 — a day after she filed for divorce — Kacey Musgraves and her husband of less than three years, Ruston Kelly, released a joint statement announcing that they're calling it quits: "With heavy but hopeful hearts we wanted to put our own thoughts into the air about what's happening. These kinds of announcements are always met with scrutiny and speculation and we want to stop that before it even starts. We believe that we were put into each other's lives for a divine reason and have both changed each other infinitely for the better. The love we have for each other goes far beyond the relationship we've shared as husband and wife. It's a soul connection that can never be erased. We've made this painful decision together — a healthy decision that comes after a very long period of trying the best we can. It simply just didn't work. Though we are parting ways in marriage, we will remain true friends for the rest of our lives. We hold no blame, anger, or contempt for each other and we ask for privacy and positive wishes for us both as we learn how to navigate through this," they said, according to The Associated Press. On July 8, Us Weekly reported that in their divorce documents, the Grammy-winning country star and the singer-songwriter listed their date of separation as July 2, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and noted that they "still have love and respect for one another."

In court documents revealed on July 7 as part of Johnny Depp's libel lawsuit against the British tabloid The Sun, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" alum accuses ex-wife Amber Heard of manipulating him into a relationship after they met on the set of the 2011 film "The Rum Diary." According to multiple media outlets, he describes the actress as "a narcissist" who's "calculating," "sociopathic" and "completely emotionally dishonest." Alleges the Oscar-nominated actor, "[She was] extremely friendly to me and keen to tell me about the breakup with her former partner [artist Tasya van Ree] that she had recently gone through. If I had known then what I knew now, I would have seen the red flag warning signs, but I did not. She was beautiful, seemingly incredibly interested in me and my work, and I fell for it. She bombed me with what appeared to be love. It was not until much later that I understood that she had an agenda, namely to get married to me in order to progress her own career and/or to benefit financially, and she knew how to bring it about. For example, at the time, she repeatedly told me how much she admired my films; however, later in our relationship she admitted that she had never seen any of my films. She knew what she wanted and I was an easy target." He then alleges that Amber researched him and his interests so that she could "pose as some expert or intellectual on these things to try to ingratiate herself" to him. "She presented herself as a carbon copy of me, with precisely the same interests, thoughts, favorite writers, taste in music and art as me," he claims. "Rather than see this as calculated, sociopathic and emotionally dishonest, I convinced myself that it was endearing and sweet." He's now "convinced that she came into my life to take from me anything worth taking, and then destroy what remained of it," he says. According to MailOnline, Johnny claims that he decided to end their marriage when Amber or "possibly one of her friends" defecated in their marital bed — and she then dismissed the incident as "just a harmless prank." Additionally, the A-lister alleges that his ex "continuously belittled" him, called him a "fat old man" and a "horrible father" and said "she did not know why she married" him. He's also accusing her of verbal and physical abuse.
Scott Disick and Sofia Richie sparked reconciliation rumors after they were snapped spending the Fourth of July together with friends in Malibu. (See photos here.) A People magazine spy, however, noted that while the former couple "seemed happy together," their interactions with one another appeared to be "more friendly than romantic" in nature. An E! News source, meanwhile, shed some light on how the holiday hangout came to be and what it means for the pair: "Sofia and Scott have always been in touch," said the insider. "Sofia was giving Scott space to deal with his emotions but would check in on him frequently during their 'split.' Scott was adamant about meeting up this past weekend. He expressed he really wanted to see Sofia and they both agreed they had missed each other. Sofia agreed to meet up and thought she had given him ample time to sort out his issues and get help. They had a casual lunch together in Malibu and a nice walk on the beach. It felt as if things were normal again and that made Sofia happy. … They aren't back together but have discussed seeing each other again. Sofia wants it to be a slow progression and wants to make sure Scott is in the right headspace. She expressed she missed [his three] kids and that it was good to see Scott in a good place right now." On July 7, Us Weekly reported that, according to a source, "there's always been a chance that Scott and Sofia could rekindle their relationship." Said the insider, "Scott knows that Sofia is good for him, but her friends and family aren't sure if he is also good for her." The source went on to say that "one of the reasons Sofia broke up with Scott was to give him a wake-up call." She "was hopeful that he would learn some lessons during their time apart," said the insider, "but unfortunately at the end of the day, Scott is who he is."
Meanwhile, Khloe Kardashian and several members of her famous family — big sis Kourtney Kardashian and mom Kris Jenner and her long-term boyfriend, Corey Gamble — celebrated the Fourth of July with Khloe's off-and-on love of several years, Tristan Thompson, at his home in Los Angeles, lending credence to recent rumors that the reality star and the professional basketball player are "giving their relationship another try."
In other Kardashian-clan-reconciliation-rumor news… Us Weekly reported on July 2 that, according to a source, Kylie Jenner "is at a place in her life where she's having fun and is not worried about what her future romantic relationship with Travis [Scott] looks like." The source added that the former couple — who've sparked questions about the nature of their relationship for nearly a year now — loves "spending time together and parenting [their daughter] Stormi." The duo thinks they could "end up back together one day," said the insider, though "they're not putting pressure on the situation."
On July 3, Jennifer Grey and Clark Gregg took to their respective Instagram accounts to release identical statements announcing that they're parting ways after nearly two decades of marriage. "After 19 years together, we separated in January, knowing we'd always be a family who loves, values and cares for each other. We recently made the difficult decision to divorce, but we remain close and are deeply grateful for the life we've shared and the wonderful daughter [Stella] we've raised," wrote the "Dirty Dancing" actress and the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." star, who both noted that they were "totally crying as we post this."
During a July 3 chat with paparazzi outside a grocery store in Malibu, Brain Austin Green opened up about his rumored romances with Courtney Stodden and Tina Louise, joking that "it's a long story." (See the full interview here.) The former teen heartthrob went on to explain that he'd "literally just met" the Australian model "that day at her restaurant on the sidewalk when the pictures [of them together] were taken." He added that Tina is "really cool" and a "super, super nice woman." Brian also described Courtney — who took to Instagram the same day he was seen with Tina to share a bizarre video of herself and the "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum saying hi to someone named Ashley — as "super nice," though he added that her behavior in the wake of their highly publicized mid-June hangout has been "disappointing." Said the recently single star, "I was just trying to be a nice guy. I shot a video for her friend Ashley saying hello — and that was a month-plus ago. That was back when the pictures of her and I [getting lunch together] came out. The fact that she decided to post that the day that Tina and I had lunch knowing that it would create problems for Tina and for myself … it kinda sucks. So it was a little disappointing. But I don't want to bash Courtney. … I think she's a nice person. I just think she's making some bad choices." Brian and Tina stepped out together again in Los Angeles on July 7 — at one point, they could even be seen standing with their arms wrapped around each other. (See photos here.) According to an E! News source, Brian and Tina "have been casually hanging out and seeing each other" but "aren't dating seriously" and are "causal for now," though there's "definitely chemistry" between them. "Brian expressed interest in Tina through social media, and they have hung out a few times now," said the insider. "She's attracted to him and loves his personality but is hesitant since he is fresh out of a [breakup from wife Megan Fox]. … Tina is a good distraction for him and Brian likes her company. … [He] is very interested and wants to keep seeing her."
Is Brody Jenner's reported relationship with Briana Jungwirth already kaput? On July 4, he was caught on camera hanging out on a boat off the coast of Malibu with a mystery brunette in thong bikini bottoms. (See photos here.) Two days later, he was snapped looking cozy with a woman from his past — model Daniella Grace — on their way into Nobu in Malibu. The reality star and the beautiful blonde were first linked in late 2019 and early 2020.
Morgan Stewart and Jordan McGraw took to Instagram on July 4 to announce that they're engaged after about six months of rekindled romance. "Fireworks," the former "Rich Kids of Beverly Hills" star captioned a photo of herself wearing a swimsuit while casually displaying her new engagement bling. Jordan, meanwhile, shared a photo of himself and his future missus along with the caption, "Plenty to smile about."
On July 8, MailOnline broke the news that One Direction singer Niall Horan has been secretly dating a designer shoe buyer named Amelia Woolley for the past two months. "Niall is very serious about Amelia, lockdown has definitely intensified his feelings for her," said a source. "He thinks Amelia's gorgeous but they also really get on — and she's told close friends this could be the real deal." Added the insider, "Amelia has spent a lot of time getting to know Niall at his London apartment after lockdown restrictions eased."
On the July 6 episode of "The Bachelor – The Greatest Seasons Ever," Cassie Randolph said that she and Colton Underwood are "on good terms and hanging in there" in the wake of their recent breakup. "It's a sensitive subject because I feel like we're still kinda going through it, and it's still pretty emotional for both of us. We haven't really talked about it publicly yet and I don't know if either of us is ready, but I will say it's been really hard," she said when asked to disclose what went wrong between them. "I think going through any breakup is really hard but going through one in public comes with a whole new set of challenges. I mean, I've never gone through any of this before so we're both kind of learning to navigate it." She added that she plans to keep the details surrounding their split private: "I kind of want to respect him in that way too and not talk a lot about it, but I don't think there's anything that I left out of our conversation that I need people to know," she said.
On July 7, multiple media outlets reported that Jordana Brewster filed to divorce her husband of 13 years, Andrew Form, in Los Angeles six days earlier. The duo quietly separated earlier this year.
During a quick-hits interview with The Guardian published on July 4, Gavin Rossdale made an eyebrow-raising comment about his divorce from Gwen Stefani. The Bush frontman described his "most embarrassing moment" as "the gross and lopsided spectre of the crumbling of my marriage." Gwen filed for divorce in August 201, a move that was followed by reports that Gavin had an affair with a woman who nannied their three sons — which painted him as the offender in the breakup in the court of public opinion.
On July 5, Us Weekly reported that, according to a source, G-Eazy is in "a much better headspace" now than he was during his tumultuous off-and-on romance with Halsey. "Their relationship was toxic, especially toward the end. [He] has a much more positive outlook on life now and has been healing through music," said the source. "He has spent much of the pandemic in his home studio, whether he's writing and recording new songs or just playing around and experimenting. It's been a real creative breakthrough." Back in 2018, Halsey strongly implied that G-Eazy — who's been dating Ashley Benson since at least May — serially cheated on her.
Victoria Beckham and David Beckham took to Instagram on July 4 to gush over one another in honor of their 21st wedding anniversary. The soccer star shared a montage of photos and videos featuring his wife and their four kids. In the caption, he dished on one of his earliest memories of the erstwhile Posh Spice: "Well about 23 years ago I was sat in a room with [soccer coach] Gary Neville and the Spice Girls were on the TV and I turned around to him and said 'ohhhh I like that one in the little black catsuit' 😄 who would have thought that all these years later we are celebrating 21 years of marriage and have 4 of the most beautiful and perfect kids.. Thank you & Happy Anniversary I Love You ♥️ @victoriabeckham," he wrote. Victoria, meanwhile, shared her own montage of photos and videos, along with the caption, "Happy Anniversary @davidbeckham ❤️❤️❤️ I can't believe it has been 21 years since we said 'I do.' Four children, four dogs, so much laughter and I love you more each day."
In other anniversary news… Jessica Simpson took to Instagram on July 5 to gush over her husband, Eric Johnson, on their sixth wedding anniversary: "Eric Johnson, my Husband, I love you. 6yrs ago today I married my perfect soulmate. Our unity was written in God's sky of colliding stars. Together we manifest dreams, nurture desire, and hold space. Destined, it always has been and always will be, forevermore," she captioned a photo of herself and the former professional football player posing with her "dream gift" — a giant crystal in the shape of butterfly wings. The mother of three then quoted a line from Emily Brontë's "Wuthering Heights" describing Heathcliff and Catherine's relationship: "Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same."
In still more anniversary news… Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams took to Instagram on July 1 to celebrate the first anniversary of their engagement. "One year engaged to my best friend. So grateful to be quarantined with the love of my life 🥰 One day we'll get married, but for now, I'll take eating junk food and Netflix all day every day 😂 I love you to Pluto and back baby," the actress captioned two photos from the day the Bachelor Nation star popped the question. Wells also shared two shots from the proposal: "A year ago today I asked my best friend to marry me. Best decision of my life. Happy engagement anniversary @sarahhyland, I love you +1 anything you say," he wrote in the caption.
Back in 2002, the very first season of "The Bachelor" ended with star Alex Michel choosing to continue dating the woman who won his heart, Amanda Marsh. (They ultimately called it quits about 10 months after wrapping the show.) On the July 7 episode of Us Weekly's "Here For the Right Reasons" podcast, Amanda said that she last spoke to her elusive ex — who's now married with kids — six years ago. "I saw pictures of him and his children … and [they're] beautiful. I'm so happy for him," she said, adding that it's "impressive" how well Alex has managed to stay off the radar over the years. "It has been six years since I've heard from him and, you know, after a while out of respect, probably, you do let go of these relationships, but you do kind of wonder a little bit just inside your gut, 'Is he OK?' … He is OK — and I think just happy with his life, and that's great," she continued. Amanda, who has a 10-year-old daughter with her ex-husband, is now engaged to a man named Chris whom she met on Match.com. When she was single, she considered possibly returning to Bachelor Nation to look for love: "There was a time after I was divorced — I was divorced for several years before I met my fiancé — where I thought about reaching out to ABC and thought, 'Should we give this a go,'" she revealed. "But it is funny because I met my fiancé on Match.com because I knew I was going to relocate to Kansas City and he lived up here. … After the show [Alex] ended up working for Match.com, so it's almost like I still thank him."
During a July 6 interview with Us Weekly, Savannah Chrisley said that she and her former fiancé, Nic Kerdiles, have "gone back to dating" following their recent decision to press pause on their wedding plans. "We're taking some time to figure out ourselves," she said. "Right now, it's a lot of focusing on us individually because I'm a firm believer that if you're not good to yourself, you can't be good for anyone else. … Right now we're working on becoming the best versions of ourselves." Continued the "Chrisley Knows Best" star, "We've had a lot of challenging conversations, and we love it because it forces us to know better and do better, and there's just a lot of learning going on." She went on to describe their relationship as "unique" because they're "not really following the rulebook." Said Savannah, "We're kind of just doing things how we want to do them and what we feel is best for us." She then acknowledged that she and the professional hockey player "got wrapped up" in their plans to tie the knot. "'Oh, we got engaged. Now we have to get married soon.' You know, we kind of put that pressure on ourselves — and we definitely got a lot of pressure from everyone else," she said. "We just had to finally take a second to step and say, 'OK, what's best for us?' And we just realized that we kind of rushed into things really fast and we still had a lot of learning and growing to do." She concluded by saying that although they're not currently planning their wedding, they could start again sometime in the future. "I believe everything happens for a reason, and when that time is right, I will know," she said.
During a July 2 interview with Us Weekly, Jana Duggar said she's "not that worried" about finding love and settling down, though she's looking forward to eventually tying the knot. "I long to be married, and one day I think that will come, but … I'm also just trying to stay busy with whatever comes along my path," said the "19 Kids and Counting" alum, adding that although she "sometimes" feels "a little more pressure" to wed, she's focused on "making the most of these single years." Continued the 30-year-old reality star, who's watched several of her younger siblings tie the knot, "I think if I sit there and I'm like, 'Oh no, I'm not married,' and just all worried about it, it makes things way worse." She went on to say that she hopes to emulate her parents' relationship: "They're quick to forgive and to … really try to make things right," she said of dad Jim Bob Duggar and mom Michelle Duggar. "The genuine love that they still have for one another … this young love, they still have that today. I think that's rare to see couples that are their age and been married that long."
