Jada Pinkett Smith talks feminism, womanism and her own personal biases on 'Red Table Talk'
For Jada Pinkett Smith, advocating for equal rights for men and women comes from a place of "womanism" rather than "feminism." She explained why on her latest edition of "Red Table Talk" on Facebook this week, reflecting on how she feels black women have historically been left out of the feminist movement. "One of the reasons why I have such a difficult time with the feminist movement – why I don't call myself a 'feminist' and I call myself a 'womanist' instead – is because of the history of the feminist movement," Jada said on the race and gender-focused episode (via USA Today). "How the feminist movement began and how the DNA still exists and how it's still focused on, really, middle class white women," she continued. "I feel like a lot of white women feel like race is not an issue for them. The thing that breaks my heart is that white women understand what it feels to be oppressed… what it feels to be ostracized or not being treated as equal." She went on to say she wished "the world could have more compassion for black women," given that they have to wear "armor because of what we're still dealing with." She also said that after being teased and worse about her hair and appearance by white women, she finds herself on the defensive sometimes based simply on the way another woman may look. "I have to admit, I'm guilty because I do have my own biases, specifically with blonde women. Blonde hair on white women just triggers me and I've had to catch myself. Recalling how she once noticed her "first instinct" when she found out a reporter who would be interviewing her was blonde, was to bail on the interview. "And I was like, 'Ooh! That's no different.' That doesn't give me the right to clump all blonde women in one," she noted before joking, "And look at me, (now) I've got blonde hair!"

Travis Scott admits he was scared in the delivery room ahead of Stormi's birth
Travis Scott is happily settling into his new role as a dad, but as he told Ellen DeGeneres on the Monday, Nov. 12, edition of her show, he found the delivery room scene to be a bit nerve-wracking when his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, went into labor. As Ellen flashed a photo of the rapper's 9-month-old daughter, Stormi, Travis admitted, "I had to leave her to come up here, and it was just so hard." These days, he added, Stormi's already starting to show off her personality. "She's so animated. She's just running around the house right now on this new walker, and she's turning into a full-blown runner," he said proudly, according to ET. Stormi is the first child for both Travis, 26, and Kylie, 21, and the "Astroworld" artist confirmed that he's been leaning a lot on the experience and baby know-how of Kylie's mom, Kris Jenner, who helped deliver Stormi. "That is a fact, yeah. She held it down because it was so scary. She walked me through the whole process," Travis explained. One thing that had him really freaked out in spite of Kris' help? "There's this thing called the placenta, that I've just been hearing about," he recalled. "Oh my god. So, I was fearful of all that. But I cut the umbilical cord. But, yeah, [Kris] held it down. Mama KJ, she's the best. …Going into it, I was nervous and scared, because we're both young. But, you know, when you first hold a baby in your arms, it's uncontrollable," he continued. "I never thought I could just love something so hard, ya know? It's crazy."
Jennifer Garner teams up with Ina Garten for 'The Barefoot Contessa's' Thanksgiving special
When it comes to cooking, Jennifer Garner's got game, a fact she's been sharing regularly with her Instagram followers via her cooking show series. Turns out the "Camping" star's earned some attention from a full-time celebrity chef. "Sometimes I do something called 'pretend cooking show' on my Instagram, [and this year] I did a pretend cooking show for Barefoot Contessa's Thanksgiving special!" she told ET over the weekend during an appearance at a Baby2Baby event in Los Angeles. The show usually features Jen cooking with help from her longtime assistant and pal, Mo, who then edits the video for the post while Jen writes up and shares the recipe du jour on Instagram and her IGTV page. "We did it the way we normally do," she said, "my assistant and I, and then it's gonna be on [Ina Garten's] show!" Jen said that was the extent of her "Thanksgiving plan." Last year, she spent the holiday with her ex, Ben Affleck. It's unclear if that will change next week, given her new romance with tech exec John Miller.
Guy Fieiri surprises Camp Fire first responders with a homecooked meal
As wildfires in California continue to burn, Guy Fieiri spent much of the weekend doing what he could to support some of the first responders who've been risking their lives to fight the Camp Fire that's raging in Butte County, about 100 miles north of Sacramento. On Sunday, Nov. 11, a tweet from the Butte County Sheriff's Office showed Guy surrounded by local law enforcement and volunteers. "Guy Fieri made a surprise visit to serve dinner to everyone at the law enforcement staging area at Butte College. Thank you so much Guy for filling our bellies and lifting our spirits," the tweet read. According to E! News, the meal Guy and his team prepared included pulled pork and plenty of sides. Guy later shared an Instagram post from his visit, captioning it, "In today's tumultuous world, it's amazing to see our fire fighters, military, law enforcement and first responders come together to rescue our communities devestated by fire. So many great people stepping up to take care of one another #ProudAmerican #CampFire." As of Monday, Nov. 12, both the Camp Fire in Northern California and the Woolsey Fire in Southern California were barely contained, moving fast and still deadly. Katy Perry slams Donald Trump for 'heartless response' to wildfires
Amid a climbing death toll, untold destruction and the evacuation of thousands of Californians, Donald Trump sent out a tweet blaming the "gross mismanagement of the forests" for the Camp, Woolsey and Hill Fires and threatening to nix federal dollars that go to the region's wooded areas. Katy Perry, for one, was having none of it. "There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor," the president posted in the wee hours of Saturday, Nov. 10. "Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!" Having spotted the tweet, Katy responded: "This is an absolutely heartless response. There aren't even politics involved. Just good American families losing their homes as you tweet, evacuating into shelters." The presidents of the International Association of Firefighters and the California Professional Firefighters shared sentiments similar to Katy's and pointed out that the president's claim was incorrect, as wildfires "are also sparked and spread … in populated areas and open fields fueled by parched vegetation, high winds, low humidity and geography," according to Brian K. Rice (via CNN). Katy wasn't the only celeb irked by Trump's tweet, either. "The reason these wildfires have worsened is because of climate change and a historic drought," Leonardo DiCaprio wrote. "Helping victims and fire relief efforts in our state should not be a partisan issue."
Gwyneth Paltrow makes a NSFW quip about arguing with Brad Falchuk
So that's how it works in Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk's house! Over the weekend, Gwyneth Paltrow caught wind of a meme that showed a woman with one breast bared and the caption, "When you realize you were wrong mid-argument so you whip out a t– to distract him." The Instagram account Comments by Celebs noticed that Gwyneth had replied to the meme by admitting she has some recent experience with the one-boob distraction technique. "I literally slayed with this tactic this morning," she cracked in the comments (via People) — not that her new hubby, Brad, seems predisposed to arguing with his wife of nearly two months. Back in September, he proved he was still smitten with Gwyneth in a post honoring her on her 46th birthday. "She was born with endless gifts – big blue eyes, a brain and heart overflowing with curiosity, generosity and possibility and those heartbreakingly long legs that go on and on – but she never rests on any of them," he gushed. "Gwyneth, you are the hardest working person I know. From your first cup of coffee in the morning to your last cup of whiskey at night. From the gym to the office to homework at the kitchen table. You give us all of you, all the time. And always with a smile (well, almost always). Maybe that's why, even though you are the best person ever, you keep getting better every year."
Michael B. Jordan says he doesn't 'really know what dating is'
Sorry, ladies. If you wanna snag a date with Michael B. Jordan, you might have to do most of the heavy-lifting. As the insanely attractive, successful and eligible bachelor tells GQ in its Men of the Year issue, MBJ is not exactly a pro when it comes to the romance game. "I'm very mature and advanced in a lot of areas of life. Dating may not be one of 'em," he muses. "I don't really know what dating is." Once he figures it out and finds the right partner, however, it sounds like the lucky lady and any kids they may have can look forward to being in good hands. "I want to make this thing so my family ain't gotta worry about nothing … I want intergenerational wealth," says the "Creed II" star. "I'm going to have fun writing my will," he adds. "Oh, my god. It's going to be so much fun." Dubbed "one of the world's biggest leading men" by GQ. Michael returns to the big screen as Apollo Creed's boxing son, Adonis Creed, on Nov. 21.
Gabrielle Union jokes, 'I stink but I'm happy' four days after her daughter's birth
Rest and personal hygiene are overrated — at least when there's a new baby in the house to dote on. Less than a week after welcoming her first child with Dwayne Wade, Gabrielle Union shared a motherhood update on Instagram Stories. "So perhaps I haven't showered or brushed my teeth or slept," she captioned a photo of herself cradling her newborn daughter on Sunday, Nov. 11 (via Us Weekly), "But I'm in heaven. I stink but I'm happy." The couple announced the arrival of their little girl on social media last week, telling friends and fans that she'd been born courtesy of a surrogate and calling her birthday, Nov. 7, "the loveliest of all the lovely days" after quoting the Bill Withers song of the same name. Dwayne, meanwhile, recently announced he'd be taking some time away from his Miami Heat team to be at home looking after his family's new addition. "With my daughter coming a couple weeks early, she's a little tiny right now, so we're making sure health-wise that she's OK," he told the Associated Press in a recent interview. "And for me, once I leave and go back to the season, not really being able to be with me everywhere I go, this time right now, this bonding moment with my daughter is the most important thing in my life at this time. And then I'll go from there, see how she's doing and make a decision based on that." The baby is Gabrielle's first. Dwayne also has three children from previous relationships.
Joe Giudice appeals deportation order from behind bars
The Giudice family is moving forward with Teresa Giudice's promise to fight Joe Giudice's deportation order. On Sunday, Nov. 11, Joe's lawyer, James Leonard Jr., told the New York Post he's filed an appeal to keep the reality star from being forced to return to Italy after he completes his 41-month fraud sentence. "The appeal has been filed and we remain optimistic that Joe will soon be home with his family where he belongs," Leonard said. "We are extremely grateful for Joe's immigration attorneys Jerry Gonzales and Tom Moseley and are very confident in them." In the meantime, the family will have to just wait; the Post reports it could be months before they hear a decision about the appeal.
Stan Lee shot 'Avengers 4' cameo prior to his death
As the world mourns the loss of Marvel legend Stan Lee, who died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday, Nov. 12, the late comic icon's "Avengers: Infinity War" co-director Joe Russo revealed one silver lining to the sad news. It seems Stan managed to shoot a cameo for "Avengers 4," due out next year, prior to his passing, so the upcoming movie will not break form from Stan's history of appearing briefly in every Marvel movie. In an appearance on the BBC's "The Afternoon Show," Joe said the cameos are generally shot in bulk whenever possible. "So, Stan, typically we try to get him out — he doesn't love to fly — so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time," Joe explained. "So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we're on, for instance 'Ant-Man 2' or 'Avengers 4,' we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and kind of get him through his cameos in one day." According to JustJared, that means the new "Avengers" movie cameo is already taken care of, since the movie has wrapped. Stan was 95.
