Kate Hudson says her WW ambassador role is about 'staying healthy,' not 'weight loss'

In the past, celebrity spokespeople for Weight Watchers have included stars of, well, larger physical stature than Kate Hudson. Kirstie Alley, DJ Khaled and Oprah Winfrey, who famously bought, and later sold, millions of shares in the company, come to mind. That might help explain the backlash Kate faced late last year when she revealed she was partnering with the company, which now goes by WW (for "Wellness that Works"). In a sit-down on "Today" on Thursday, Jan. 10, the 39-year-old actress and newly minted mother of three responded to critics who have accused Kate of being out of touch with the plight of those who struggle consistently with food and weight. After the birth of her daughter, Rani, Kate announced she wanted to lose 25 lbs. before an upcoming movie shoot. But as one angry social media user snapped (via the Daily Mail), "Losing weight after having a child is different than losing weight due to a long span of overeating." On "Today," Kate explained her partnership with WW this way: "My struggle is not in weight loss. Mine is about staying healthy, trying to stay focused and balanced." She went on to explain, "One of the things about this new re-imagining of WW is it's not just about weight, it's about wellness," adding, "To me, it's all about support, you always need a support system, whether it be a trainer, a best friend, an app. Everyone's looking to how do you get motivated, how do you stay motivated? That's the number one thing people always ask me." Asked about the controversy surrounding her being chosen to rep the company, Kate said that's "exactly why I'm here," referencing her goal of "mythbusting" what the new WW brand is all about. "It's a community for people to understand their health better, holistically. It's about, 'Where do we go to practice mindfulness?' Where do we go to understand the foods that we're putting into our body? Where do we go when we fall off the wagon and we need to get up again?' WW is not a diet, it's really a lifestyle," she said. "You could be on the Mediterranean diet, you could be a vegan, you could be anything; and you can be a part of the community. It's a fun thing to be a part of." Kate, who's made it clear shedding baby weight is central to her WW ambassador role, also said she always pictured having four to six kids and is open to having more children with her boyfriend, Danny Fujikawa. "I mean, if it works out that way," she said (via the New York Post). "He needs a boy, right?" In a joking reference to her sons from previous relationships, she added: "His own boy."

Kate Beckinsale responds to comment about Pete Davidson rumors

Leave it to Kate Beckinsale, currently tied with Chrissy Teigen in the Wry Social Media Humor department,to address rumors she and Pete Davidson got flirty at a Golden Globes afterparty with a sarcastic Instagram quip. This week, Kate shared a photo of her mom, actress Judy Loe, looking particularly smokin' in the late '60s or early '70s while wearing a pair of teensy hot pants and go-go boots with an owl perched on her shoulder. "It was great that my mother covered wearing hot pants really well and rocking a fashion owl so that I could chill for my awkward teenage years and just enjoy having the teeth of an adult horse, waiting only a couple of decades for my head to grow to accommodate them," Kate wrote alongside the modeling pic (via ET). Having apparently read reports that Kate spent an hour in deep conversation with Pete at a Netflix party following the Globes, a fan posted this comment below the image of Kate's mom: "Dear heavens, Kate. Not Pete Davidson." Kate's reply? "re@bubs5983 no that's my mother. Easy mistake." Ba-dum, ching. According to E! News, Kate, 45, and the "SNL" star, 25, were "flirty" and shared "some vibes" during their post-awards show chat. They reportedly hugged before parting, then went home separately. Kate was last linked to 23-year-old comic, Matt Rife.

Lindsay Lohan says she and ex, Samantha Ronson, were 'friends more than anything'

"Oh my god." That's all Lindsay Lohan could say at first when Howard Stern asked her on his Sirius Radio show this week if she was "judged" for her relationship with Samantha Ronson a decade ago. The topic came up because the DJ's name is referenced in Lindsay's new reality series, "Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club," when Lindsay defends a bisexual employee who's being mistreated because of his sexual preference, according to the New York Post. "I talk about that on the show," Lindsay told Howard of her romance with Samantha. "We were friends more than anything. We were always more like best friends as well." She and Samantha split in 2009, but Lindsay maintains she was the first celeb in her age group to deal with judgment about bisexuality. She's since called the relationship with Sam "toxic." Looking ahead, Lindsay told the radio host, "I want to date a guy that's a businessman, doesn't have Instagram, doesn't have social media and is completely off the grid in terms of that kind of stuff."

Christina El Moussa is now Christina Anstead

Now that she's officially married to Ant Anstead, "Flip or Flop" star Christina El Moussa also has an official new name. The renovation guru recently tweaked her Instagram to reflect she's now going by Christina Anstead. The news comes as plenty of eyes are focused on Christina and Ant's social media pages, where they've been posting updates from their honeymoon in Bora Bora (as Christina's ex, Tarek El Moussa, shares posts asking for help with ideas to entertain their kids while he's on solo parent duty). She and Ant tied the knot in a surprise ceremony on Dec. 22.

Is Jennifer Aniston desperately scoping out her Oscar date possibilities? Not so much — in spite of claims to that effect from Life & Style. The tab recently posted a story claiming Jen has enlisted famous friends like Jason Bateman, Courteney Cox and Jimmy Kimmel to help her find a date for the ceremony and possibly the long-term to fulfill her alleged goal of having a boyfriend before she turns 50. Reps for the actress have since told GossipCop Jen's not even planning to go to the Oscars, while sources close to the star tell ET she's very happy with her current single life.

Claire Foy is human, had to avoid being blinded by Ryan Gosling's look on the 'First Man' set

When starring in a movie about space, it's wise to consider rules about gazing directly at that big ball of fire in the sky. Just ask Claire Foy, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her turn as Neil Armstrong's wife, Janet Armstrong, in "First Man." When Claire stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this week, Ellen brought up what we'd all probably bring up with a woman who recently played Ryan Gosling's wife — well, minus the "hey, girl" intro. "[Ryan is] very difficult to look at," Ellen noted (via the Daily Mail). Said Claire: "I didn't ever look him ever directly in the eye." You'll notice Claire managed to wrap shooting "First Man" with her sight intact.

Kevin Hart shares jokes he would have told at the Oscars, says he's 'done trying to please' the public on the issue

As far as Kevin Hart's concerned, the Academy missed out on some comedic "fire"when the organization lost him as their host for the Oscars. Speaking to Stephen Colbert on "The Late Show" this week, Kevin assured the audience he "had some heat" prepared before a controversy erupted around the comic's since deleted tweets containing homophobic language and his refusal to apologize for them, which he said he'd already done. Had he gone through with the gig, he said his first order of business would have been to "take the tension out of the room," because "people go to the Oscars, but they're not there to laugh because everybody is waiting for their moment … everybody is uptight," (via E! News). He said he'd get folks to relax by sharing celebrity memes like Nicole Kidman's "seal clap," which he joked, "almost ended" the Oscar favorite. "They caught her in a bad clap," he explained. "It was the middle of a clap, and they saw that she had boomerangs for hands. You don't want to do that. So, you gotta relax. That wouldn't have happened if it were a relaxed moment." Recalling the material he was already working on, he said, "Man, I had so much stuff. It was going to be fire. It was going to be amazing." Stephen eventually pressed him on whether he would have "changed anything" as far as the tweets controversy. "You can continue to live to please others, or you can have a position when you know that you've literally done what you can to try to please," he replied. "At that moment, when you know that you've given your all to try to please and it's still not received you have to make a decision to go, I'm done trying to please. That's where I'm at." As of Thursday, Jan. 10, there was still no host lined up for the Oscars, although Whoopi Goldberg has thrown her name in the ring.

Reese Witherspoon talks empowering women in Hollywood and beyond

Beneath Reese Witherspoon's photo on the cover of the February edition of Vogue, the text reads, "The idea is to put women at the center of the story." In the cover story, the active #Time's Up advocate — who admits she used "hide" her Oscar for "Walk The Line" before she thought to herself, "why shouldn't I put it out here in the living room?" — says she was tired of being the only leading actress on a given set (via ET). "I was sick of seeing scripts where there was only one female role, badly written, and yet every actress in town wanted the part because there was nothing else," she says. "I remember being so in awe of my mom. She always had a positive attitude, always laughing, always telling a joke, and she always had a billion friends at work," Reese, 42, recalls of her mother, Betty, a registered nurse. "… There's a reason I'm very passionate about women having their own money," she says later in the piece. "I have a lot of friends and I have a lot of personal experiences with women feeling afraid and making life choices because they felt completely paralyzed or in a stasis because they didn't know what to do financially. And you can't have liberation if you don't have that."

Duchess Meghan takes on four new patronages

Duchess Meghan isn't letting her pregnancy slow her down when it comes to her charity work. The 37-year-old mom-to-be officially added four new patronages to her roster this week, according to ET. Citing an announcement from Kensington Palace, the website reports Meghan is now working with The National Theatre and The Association of Commonwealth Universities, charges the queen handed down to Meghan, as well as Smart Works, a group that "helps long-term unemployed and vulnerable women regain the skills, confidence and tools to succeed at job interviews, return to employment and transform their lives," according to its website. Finally, Meghan is the new patron of Mayhew, an animal welfare charity that works to "improve the lives of animals and people to better communities both in London and internationally."
