Brooks Laich talks divorce as Julianne Hough split rumors continue
In the last few weeks, rumors about the state of Julianne Hough's marriage to Brooks Laich have grown louder, with insiders telling outlets including Us Weekly and People that the two are going through a difficult time. On the Monday. Feb. 3, edition of "How Men Think," the podcast Brooks hosts with Gavin DeGraw, he discussed some of the things that can lead a couple to divorce with divorce attorney, Laura Wasser. "I'm going to change in the course of my life. My wife is going to change in the course of her life," the hockey player said, according to Us. "But also, I think people over time can develop some sort of indifference when once there was an attraction. They can just develop an indifference, and it's not staying connected enough to continue to learn and grow and accept your changes, accept their changes and also challenge each other." After encouraging listeners to check out "resources" like seminars and books if they're unsure of how to proceed in their marriage, he opened up about how communication and other issues can necessitate change. "I don't think a lot of people in their marriage really, really, truthfully communicate all the needs and desires and cravings and yearnings they have for themselves, for their partner, all of it," he said. "I think they lack a little bit of courage there, to share those things that could really actually keep people together and, like, light their marriage on fire." Before the end of the episode, he shouted out Laura's own divorce podcast, "Divorce Sucks!" and told her, "I'm really happy for you, but I hope I'm never on your podcast." Gavin, for his part, has been among the people close to Brooks and Julianne who have told reporters he thinks the two are doing OK and will figure everything out. The couple tied the knot back in 2017.

When Margot Robbie accepted Brad Pitt's Best Supporting Actor BAFTA for his performance in "Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood," the audience was told Brad couldn't make it because of a "family obligation." British tab The Sun claims that obligation was Maddox Jolie-Pitt, Brad's estranged son. "Maddox gave Brad the chance to talk and he dropped everything," an insider reportedly told The Sun (via Page Six). Brad and Maddox have been on bad terms since the 2016 incident on a private plane that preceded Brad's then-wife Angelina Jolie's divorce filing. "Maddox has been away at university so when Brad found out he was going to be around and they could have a conversation, he canceled the UK trip," the source added. Brad did not join Angelina when she dropped him off at school in South Korea last August. Maddox has since been asked if he might reconcile with his dad, but would only tell reporters, "I don't know about that [or] what's happening."

Turns out Jay-Z and Beyonce's politics had nothing to do with their failure to stand for Demi Lovato's performance of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl over the weekend. During a talk with Columbia University students over the weekend, Jay was asked if the couple intended to make a statement about the Black Lives Matter movement when they watched Demi sing from their seats. "It actually wasn't. Sorry. It really wasn't. … It was not premeditated at all," he replied, according to Billboard. Instead, a Roc Nation deal with the NFL put Jay at the helm of the game's music, including Jennifer Lopez and Shakira's politicized Halftime Show and Demi's opening number. "So we get there, and we immediately jump into artist mode," Jay explained. "So I'm looking at the show. 'Did our mic start? Was it too low to start?' … 'Is it too many speakers on the floor?' … So the whole time we're sitting there and we're talking about the performance. And then right after that, Demi comes out, and we're talking about how beautiful she looked and how she sound[ed], and what she's going through in her life for her to be on the stage and we're so proud of her." Jay added that he and Beyonce had their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, with them, and they "wouldn't do that to Blue and put her in that position." He also noted that, "If anyone knows Blue … if we told her we were gonna do something like that, you would have seen her tapping me a hundred times. She's the kid that gets in the car and closes the door and says, 'We there yet, Daddy?' So she would say, 'What time? Are we doing it?'" Later, he pointed out that his politics came into play with the Latin music stars' performance at halftime and a commercial Roc Nation co-produced about Botham Jean, who was murdered by Dallas police officer Amber Guyger in 2018. "We were making the biggest, loudest protest of all," Jay said. "Given the context, I didn't have to make a silent protest."

Shannen Doherty recalls when she realized her cancer had returned
Shannen Doherty announced this week she is now facing stage 4 breast cancer. And as she told Amy Robach in an interview featured on "Good Morning America," there was a point after the cancer went into remission in 2017 when she knew something was wrong. "I started feeling some very odd aches, so I called my oncologist," she recalled (via E! News). "He said, 'Alright, let's just get you in.' I think in the back of your head you are always suspecting that this is going to happen. I had definitely, in another way, convinced myself that I had beaten it," she added. "I was the true warrior." Shannen went on to explain that she kept the diagnosis under wraps for more than year — in spite of having been very open with fans and friends on social media when she first battled the disease — because she didn't want to be treated like "a dead man walking that [people] need to say their goodbyes to …" She wanted to keep working, too — and she did, appearing on both the rebooted "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Riverdale," while working on other projects. "I enjoy working and working gives me just another reason to wake up every morning," she said. "It's another reason to fight to stay alive."
Billy Ray Cyrus teases possible 'Hannah Montana' prequel
Nearly a decade after "Hannah Montana" came to an end, Billy Ray Cyrus has announced there could be a prequel in the works. The project is focused on his character from the series, Robby Stewart, the father of Miley Stewart, aka Hannah Montana. "They're talking about doing a prequel, which to me, I would do that in a heartbeat — because that means I get to get my mullet back," the 58-year-old country star recently told Hollywood Life. "I think there's a whole story that led up to Miley becoming Hannah Montana," the singer said. On the show, Robby is a country singer who retires to take care of his kids. He and his daughter Miley, whom he manages, both use disguises and stage names to prevent anyone from learning he's Miley (or Hannah)'s father. "Hannah Montana" aired from 2006 until 2011; it also made it onto the big screen as a movie.

As the mother of any toddler knows, creativity is the name of the game when it comes to juggling things like work responsibilities and exercise. So when Blake Lively knew she'd be on the set of "The Rhythm Section" for long hours, she found clever ways to squeeze in extra time with the 3 and 5-year-old daughters she shares with Ryan Reynolds. "I woke up at 5 a.m., but mostly because I was doing momma duty with my girls," she says in a new video for Vanity fair (via ET). "Have breakfast with them, hang out with them, work out with them. 'Cause I didn't want to wake up any earlier — I'm not Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, I had to just get some sleep," she jokes. "So I would actually wake up and work out with my girls. So I would sort of use them as weights. Instead of wearing a weight vest, I got to wear my children." After her kid-weight workout, she said she'd go to work and return home around 9 p.m., just in time to put the little ones to bed. Except for one problem: She was usually way more ready to catch some z's than they were. "They don't ever go to sleep, honestly. We gotta invent something," she joked. "My kids had, like, a pack-and-play, almost like a crib, and I would crawl in there and sing them to sleep … Usually, I'd fall asleep in there. Almost every single night I'd fall asleep in there," she continued. "And then my husband would usually come in and be like, 'Hey, you're safe now. You can come to bed.'"

Beyond that, she knew they had a lot to manage as far as joining their very public lives. "When we first got married, we were just figuring out our life together. I felt like putting a wedding in the middle of all of that would be really hectic and stressful," she said (via People). Being in the spotlight also meant the world dumped their assumptions on them — including that Justin was still doing drugs, "when in truth, he was not healthy and we didn't know why." Ultimately, Hailey said, managing a wedding amid Justin's illness just "didn't feel like the vibe at all."
