New hair, who dis? From color overhauls to major chop-chops, celebrities have a way of totally reinventing themselves with a trip to the salon. Wonderwall.com rounded up the most dramatic hair transformations of 2018, starting with Julianne Hough. She ditched her signature blonde tresses for a new red-hot look in February. "I have never felt more like ME than I do right now," she wrote on Instagram after dying her locks. "I have always felt like a red head my whole life, even to the point that I've thought that my future daughter would 100% be a red head!" Yup, that's still Julianne Hough! She shocked us not once but twice this year with another drastic hair change in September. Julianne claimed that her recent dye job damaged her hair, which prompted her to trade in her long locks for a blond bob with bangs. "Detaching from what you know can be challenging, but also so freeing," she captioned a picture of her cut on Instagram. "The best thing about hair is how you get to create, play and just have fun with it! So here is a new look, courtesy of frizzy ends needing a clean cut after going from red to blonde."

For most of the year, Justin Bieber had been rocking scruffy, longish platinum locks. He finally decided to leave his moppy style behind with a buzz cut in October and debuted a freshly shaved head with a mirror selfie on Twitter. We wonder if his new wife, Hailey Baldwin, had any say in the matter…

From baby blue to rainbow, Cardi B tends to change up her hair color and style frequently, often with the help of wigs. But we didn't see this chop coming at all! Soon after giving birth to her first child, daughter Kulture, the "Bodak Yellow" rapper debuted a black pixie cut at the MTV Video Music Awards in August. Is anybody else getting Kris Jenner vibes?

Emilia Clarke not only went from brunette to blonde in September, but also from shoulder-length to super-short. In order to convey exactly what she wanted to her hairstylist, she drew upon fellow stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt. "I'm thinking when Gwyneth and Brad had the same hair cut," she wrote on Instagram after the transformation, adding the hashtag, "for the love of low maintenance."

Tamar Braxton finally had enough of dealing with her hair, so she just shaved it all off in March. "I'm over feeling captive to a wig, weave, people, people's comments & opinions hell…even my OWN feelings," she captioned a photo on Instagram after buzzing her head. "WE can choose to stop these things from having the power and victory over us!! And for me, that starts TODAY."

Talk about letting that flow fly free! Henry Cavill made headlines when he stepped out at the GQ Men of Year Awards in Berlin showing off a much looser 'do. The action star is letting his hair grow out and giving his curls free reign. Do you think this look is working for him?

Ariana Grande changed up her hair in November, sharing a photo of her drastic trim on Instagram on Nov. 15. She also shared this pic (seen here) a few days later. While the "Thank U, Next" singer didn't caption the selfies, no words were really necessary. All anyone could talk about was how short her locks were and, most notably, that she was ponytail-free. We LOVE this look on Ariana!

Kendra Wilkinson was known for being a blonde bombshell on Hugh Hefner's reality show, "The Girls Next Door," back in 2005. But the mom of two decided to totally rebrand with a color change in September just before finalizing her divorce from Hank Baskett. "Girl on fire," she captioned a mirror selfie on Instagram. "I chose reddish blondish honeyish copperish carmelish pumpkin spicish. Fall is almost here, and just loving the feeling and the energy it's bringing me right now. Blonde will always be there but for now I'll live in this new beautiful color."

Alanis Morissette doesn't mess around! The "Jagged Little Pill" singer skipped the bob and went straight from super-long hair to an extreme pixie cut in April.

Instead of gradually transitioning from brunette to blonde, Rose Byrne went the extreme route with her recent 'do transformation. In October, she stepped out with super-bright platinum locks.

Ansel Elgort was almost hard to recognize when he stepped out with blonde hair in October, but we aren't mad at the color change. He was just as sexy as a brunette!

In July, Gabrielle Union celebrated a major hair first with a serious chop to her natural hair. "1st time I've EVER significantly cut my OWN hair in my life and I LOVE IT!!! Not a wig or a weave… wanted something new and different so I did the damn thing and you cant tell me nada," she wrote on Instagram after cutting her tresses.

In June, Sophie Turner took her hair way lighter and shorter at the same time. Her stylist, Christian Wood, shared a selfie with the "Game of Thrones" star after working his magic on what he called "her new lob and icy blonde" look.

Kim Kardashian West has dabbled with lighter locks in the past, even going platinum blond and icy gray in 2017. In March, she took a more colorful route and experimented with vibrant pink tresses for a trip to Japan. She rocked the edgy look for close to a month before going back to her original brunette hue. "Gonna miss the pink," she wrote on Instagram. In September, she surprised us again with green strands to match her neon Lamborghini while on vacation in Miami, but that time it was just a wig.

Katy Perry was also tickled pink by Japan! While touring in Asia, she frosted her pixie locks with a cherry blossom-inspired shade. "And that's a wrap on the Asian leg of Witness The Tour! Fell in love with many different cherry blossoms from Tokyo to South Korea… so @rickhenryla and I decided I should become one," she captioned a photo of her vibrant new 'do on Instagram in April.

Spice Girl Emma Bunton jumped on the pink hair train this year! Shortly after announcing that the Spice Girls are reuniting for a new tour (sans Victoria Beckham, of course!), the British singer shook things up and debuted light pink tresses.

Celebrities often have to go through extreme measures to get into character for a role, which sometimes includes making dramatic 'do transformations. Luckily for Antonio Banderas, hair always grows back! In March, he shaved his entire head, beard and eyebrows to play famed artist Pablo Picasso on the series "Genius: Picasso."

Leighton Meester took an extreme plunge into the blonde world back in April, both dying and cutting her brown locks. "Having a blonde moment," she captioned a photo of her new 'do on Instagram. She credited Nexxus products for keeping her hair healthy after using so much bleach for the drastic color change. "10 days later: still platinum and healthy," she followed up. But by September, the "Gossip Girl" actress had reverted back to being a brunette.

Since Julia Roberts' big break in the 1990 rom-com "Pretty Woman," she's been known for her signature auburn locks. This year, she not only made a huge career change with a move to the small screen, but also completely switched up her look. Julia debuted bouncy blonde tresses while promoting her new Amazon TV series, "Homecoming," in July.

But a few months later in November, Julia Roberts stepped out with washed-out, rose pink hair in Los Angeles. The understated change is certainly a shakeup for the actress, but we have to say, we love it!

Scarlett Johansson had been rocking a blonde pixie cut for a couple of years, but she had us doing a double take when she stepped out with a whole new look for the the premiere of "Avengers: Infinity War" in April. While her tresses were still short and sweet, she dyed her 'do a warm shade of brown and styled it with a front-facing sweep. In July, Demi Lovato said goodbye to her usually dark brown tresses and hello to fierce summer highlights. The big change came right before the "Sober" singer re-entered rehab after a serious overdose. When she got out and returned to Los Angeles in November, she was back to black.

In May, Mila Kunis proved that bangs can most definitely be bangin' and not necessarily permanent. She rocked a wavy bob with new fringe at the Billboard Music Awards, but they were likely just clip-ins because we haven't seen them on her since.

Jessica Simpson, who's expecting her third child, had a bit of a mommy hair makeover in October. Her colorist, Rita Hazan, shared a selfie with the singer-turned-designer after lightening her locks and giving her a new shoulder-length cut. Jess has been having a lot of fun with her hair this year: She also celebrated her 38th birthday in July with a sexy red wig.

Zayn Malik is all about those frosted tips! The "Let Me" singer looked cool with icy blue ends over the summer, which he switched up to a bright shade of pink by year's end.

Jonah Hill also dabbled around with fun hair colors this year, but he took it a little farther than Zayn Malik. In June, the "Superbad" actor went all out, dying his full head of hair neon pink. He left his beard, however, au naturel.

Sandra Bullock also decided to lose a few inches this year. In November, she stepped out with significantly shorter shoulder-length tresses, which was quite the departure from her usually long locks.

New year, new 'do! In January, Zooey Deschanel unveiled a shoulder-length bob with adorable bangs. "Meant to post this weeks ago: thanks @mararoszak for my big time hair cut," she captioned a photo on Instagram.

SZA decided to play with fire this year — when it came to her hair, that is! She's almost always had long, dark curly locks since she broke onto the music scene, but she debuted a way shorter, fiery red hairstyle in August.

Lucy Hale drastically lightened up her usually brown locks in October. "Blonde Ambition," the "Pretty Little Liars" star captioned a photo of her hair makeover on Instagram.

In August, Brooklyn Decker snipped off her long locks for a chin-length look and found the perfect new color. "Peachy Paris Texas hair of my dreams," she captioned a picture of the dye job on Instagram.

Katharine McPhee also went from long to chin-length this year. The Broadway actress and singer underwent a major transformation with a bouncy bob and bangs to match, seen here in October.

Jessica Chastain kept her tresses the same signature shade of red we're used to but made a major hair change over the summer. In June, she chopped off more than a few inches to try out a chin-length bob with wavy layers.

In May, Emma Roberts got a trendy makeover from celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan, the man behind Jennifer Aniston's famed "The Rachel" cut while she was on "Friends." He dubbed Emma's short new look the "hairline bob."

Emma Watson got quite scissor-happy with her hair this year. In March, the "Harry Potter" actress tried out short, jagged bangs at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. This is one look she probably wished could be reversed with wizardly magic.

Maria Menounos was in a flat-hair funk before deciding to try out a new layered look in July. "Feeling my haircut," she wrote on Instagram. "Couldn't figure out why my hair was going flat & wouldn't cooperate! Thought I need some layers….but I needed a full haircut! It was growing & losing its style!"
