It's fashion judging time! And our first fashion victim of the last month of 2017? The one and only Demi Lovato. The star certainly served up some bad looks this month. Her worst offense? This getup at Y100's Jingle Ball in Sunrise, Florida, on Dec. 17. The star wore… well… a bodysuit, a denim jacket and a pair of jeans shredded to the equivalent of a denim fanny pack plus thigh highs over a pair of nude tights. To add insult to injury, the singer also rocked hoop earrings bigger than her head. Oh, Demi! Keep reading to see more cringe-worthy looks of the month, as well as some style we're seriously coveting!
Bring on the red! Just in time for the holidays, several stars opted for the festive hue, including Elizabeth Banks! The actress wore this Jeffrey Dodd dress on the "Pitch Perfect 3" premiere red carpet in Los Angeles on Dec. 12, and we loved the sleek silhouette, slit and matching strappy red heels. Equally awesome? That platinum hair the star is rocking!
Though Zendaya served up a lot of fashionable looks this month (we'll get to that later), she disappointed at the Australian premiere of "The Greatest Showman" in Sydney on Dec. 20. This dress by Moschino transformed the star into an actual butterfly with its black, orange and yellow design — a look the seemed more like a Halloween costume than red carpet premiere attire.
A beauty in blue! Jessica Chastain stepped on many a red carpet in December to promote her latest film, "Molly's Game," but her appearance in Amsterdam takes the cake! The star wore this gorgeous Elie Saab in the prettiest blue hue, accessorizing with drop earrings in a similar shade.
Kristen Wiig arrived at the "Downsizing" premiere in Los Angele on Dec. 18 in this unfortunate black-and-white Marc Jacobs gown, a strange one-shouldered dress with a billowy sleeve, a thigh-high slit and an odd train. The only part of the ensemble we liked? The way she wore those black-and-white stilettos to complement the dress.
Lily James beamed in Burberry at the premiere of "Darkest Hour" in London on Dec. 11, but unfortunately, we weren't big fans of her dress selection. The star's black gown featured one bizarrely placed asymmetrical strap and even more puzzling white piping. The messy updo ensured this look wasn't one of our favorites this month.
It looks like Vanessa Hudgens was heading out of a workout class in Los Angeles on Dec. 20, but that still doesn't excuse this bizarre getup. The star wore a sports bra and exercise pants underneath a velour jacket, which wasn't as puzzling as her accessory choices — that cap and the Gucci fur loafers.
We told you that December graced us with plenty of red outfits on the red carpet! Lily Collins joined the trend at The Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Breakfast in Los Angeles on Dec. 6, rocking this red lace minidress by La Perla. We loved the way she wore her hair in loose waves with the skin-baring choice and added red pumps to the mix.
We're all for athleisure taking over, but Olivia Culpo's outfit at the Eighth Annual Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series Finale in Miami Beach on Dec. 8 wasn't fabulous. She wore a silk bralette underneath an oversized blazer and striped leggings, finishing it off with pumps for a confusing combination.
Another lady in red! Michelle Williams was, as usual, decked out in Louis Vuitton at the "All the Money in the World" premiere in Los Angeles on Dec. 18 in this glam, gorgeous halter gown complete with a pussy-bow detail at the collar.
Eva Longoria attended the Eighth Annual Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series Finale in Miami Beach on Dec. 8 in this slinky black minidress reminiscent of lingerie. We really weren't fans of the cheap-looking ensemble.
Aca-amazing! Rebel Wilson rocked a sparkly red number to the "Pitch Perfect 3" premiere in Los Angeles on Dec. 12. We loved the shimmering hue of the Adrianna Papell gown and the equally eye-catching Judith Leiber clutch she carried.
Is that a duster-bomber jacket hybrid? Ansel Elgort stopped by "Late Night With Seth Meyers" in New York City on Dec. 20 in this bizarre shiny getup that included matching pants. Maybe the sweatsuit on its own would have looked cool, but paired with those camo hightops and the childish rocketship shirt underneath, Ansel really lost us.
Kathryn Hahn is always one of our red carpet favorites, and her appearance at The Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Breakfast in Los Angeles on Dec. 6 was no exception! We loved the crimson pantsuit with the white T-shirt underneath and the way she finished it off with a pair of nude pumps.
A pantsuit situation that wasn't as nice? "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Dorit Kemsley's! The reality star attended the premiere of Season 8 in Los Angeles on Dec. 15 in this white variety, but it's what she put underneath that we weren't into — what looks like a stark black push-up bra.
We love when people are true to their individual style — and Lisa Vanderpump never disappoints in that area! Always feminine and classy, the mogul attended the premiere of Season 8 of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" in Los Angeles on Dec. 15 in this black lace gown, which featured a bow design at the waist for a perfectly Vanderpump ensemble.
We just want to know — why? Bella Thorne stepped out in Los Angeles on Dec. 18 in this painfully awful ensemble — bright orange printed pants, a graphic T-shirt and striped sneakers. Yikes!
Black-and-white beauty! Rosamund Pike attended a screening of "Hostiles" in New York City on Dec. 18 in this sleek Givenchy number featuring black straps and detailing on the bodice that flowed into a white ruffled skirt.
Oh no, Sarah Silverman! The actress baffled us at The Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Breakfast in Los Angeles on Dec. 6 in a shirt and tie underneath a red sweater underneath a black blazer — yikes! But that wasn't all! She also paired it with bootleg jeans and chunky boots for a big fashion fail.
Shay Mitchell looked ravishing in red while attending the 2017 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball North in Toronto on Dec. 9. The brunette beauty opted for this silky red festive minidress, which she matched to her red lip and strappy heels.
Batgirl, is that you? Pamela Anderson confused us all at the Pamela Anderson x Coco De Mer launch party in London on Dec. 5 when she showed up in this skintight black latex dress with a cape, a look she finished off with — what else? — a mask.
Jennifer Lawrence looked pretty in pink at The Hollywood Reporter's annual Power 100 breakfast in Los Angeles on Dec. 6. The superstar donned a lovely light pink frock with black accents including piping on the collar, black buttons down the bodice and a thick black belt. She finished the Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini dress off with a pair of simple black pumps and a simple updo.
Demi Lovato arrived at KIIS FM's Jingle Ball in Los Angeles on Dec. 1 in this horrific… pantsuit? Minidress with pants underneath? We're not quite sure. More confusing than what comprised the outfit? The pants that had legs made up of two completely different fabrics!
One of our very favorite looks of the month? That goes to Zendaya, who rocked this phenomenal black pantsuit by Ronald van der Kemp in London on Dec. 5. The suit jacket featured chic pops of color on the lapels and sleeves, and she opted for another color pop with red pumps and a bright red lip. But the "The Greatest Showman" star didn't stop there in the fabulous fashion department…
She did it again! Zendaya stepped out in another one of the best looks of the month just a few days later! The beauty attended the world premiere of her latest film, "The Greatest Showman," in New York City on Dec. 8 in this phenomenal Viktor & Rolf ball gown. The strapless dress was fit for a Hollywood princess, with black-and-red tulle tiers. Equally fabulous? Her sleek bob-and-bangs hairstyle. A+, Z!
Camila Cabello earned herself a fashion citation at the L'Oreal Paris Women of Worth Celebration in New York City on Dec. 6. The unfortunate pairing of a sheer, busy, unbuttoned white blouse with a massive, shiny, pink satin skirt looked less than lovely.
Selena Gomez gave us "Little House on the Prairie" vibes in this Coach design. The cream and white confection featured plenty of silk, satin and lace, and while it might have stuck out on an ordinary red carpet, since the star rocked it for an event dedicated to celebrating fashion, it was a great call. Selena sported the dress at the British Fashion Awards in London on Dec. 4.
Kesha proved her sense of style is as zany (and unfortunate!) as ever when she hit the KIIS FM Jingle Ball red carpet in Los Angeles on Dec. 1. The singer wore this quirky green printed minidress with a massive pink satin bow accent, which she paired with loud white boots with big floral detailing down the front. And while it is in line with her typically odd fashion choices, that doesn't mean it's any easier on our eyes! Next!
As the daughter of supermodel royalty, Kaia Gerber always hits it out of the park on the red carpet. Her look at the British Fashion Awards in London on Dec. 4 was no exception: The gorgeous teen showed up in this stunning Ralph & Russo creation. The pale blue dress, which featured cut-outs at the shoulders and midriff and layers upon layers of ruffles, coordinated perfectly with pointed-toe pumps in the same hue.
Though Cate Blanchett sure made a stunning arrival on the red carpet at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in London on Dec. 3, her Alexander McQueen confection just had too much happening for our taste. We loved the pale pink shade but the floral appliqués on the bodice and down the long sleeves coupled with a tiered, ruffled skirt just felt extra.
Seeing stars! Daisy Ridley attended the "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" world premiere in Los Angeles on Dec. 9 in this sparkly Monse dress. With its white stars and shimmering detailing, the strapless gown was the perfect pick for the "Star Wars" franchise's leading lady.
Pretty in Prada! Lily Collins wore this wispy white and pale pink number at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony in Mountain View, California, on Dec. 3. The ethereal number featured a very subtle chevron print and the most delicate lace-up detailing along the neck. And while we wish she would have opted for a less severe lipstick shade, that simple, straight hair kept the attention on this gorgeous gown.
She typically serves up a big hit or a major miss, so it's not shocking that Maisie Williams' ensemble at the British Fashion Awards on Dec. 4 really bombed. The "Game of Thrones" star opted for a Coach look comprised of a sheer short-sleeved T-shirt underneath a floral-patterned dress, all in various shades of green, beige and black — so it's pretty clear why she made the miss list this time. And that messy half-up bun was just the icing on the cake.
Gina Rodriguez looked superb at the ACLU SoCal's Bill of Rights Dinner in Los Angeles on Dec. 3. The "Jane the Virgin" star rocked this black gown with a deep V-neck and fun button and ruffled design that led the way to a thigh-high slit. Her sleek middle-parted hairstyle and simple strappy heels went perfectly and proved to be wonderful accents!
Shiny and black isn't always a great combination, as evidenced by Jessica Chastain's getup at the "Molly's Game" premiere in Madrid on Dec. 4. The stunning actress had flawless hair and makeup, along with a gorgeous diamond necklace, but the weak link in her look? That dress! The slinky, reflective fabric of the Ralph Lauren Collection evening gown was more reminiscent of a trash bag than couture.
A vision in red! Karlie Kloss arrived at the British Fashion Awards in London on Dec. 4 in this stunning Vivienne Westwood number — a strapless cherry red ball gown complete with a pointed neckline and tiered skirt.
No white after Labor Day, Miranda Kerr! Breaking a cardinal fashion rule, Miranda Kerr made her first post-pregnancy announcement appearance at a KORA Organics event in Los Angeles on Dec. 3. She topped her simple white minidress with a denim jacket, making for a look that was much more appropriate for the summertime than December!
We love unexpected combos that work on a red carpet! Amandla Stenberg seriously impressed in this purple turtleneck underneath a simple LBD, and the way she paired it with black shiny ankle boots made this look even lovelier!
Cruella de Vil vibes! Elizabeth Olsen channeled the famous Disney villain and her Dalmatian co-stars when she wore this white dress with black spots to a "Wind River" cocktail party in Los Angeles on Dec. 2. And though we liked the print, the bulky long sleeves and the awkward angle of the thigh-high slit lost us.
Ordinarily, we wouldn't be fans of this excessive amount of plaid on a red carpet — but we're really feeling the holiday spirit and this time, Jada Pinkett Smith gets a pass! The red, white and green plaid strapless dress from the Gucci Resort collection was actually the perfect pick for KIIS FM's annual Jingle Ball holiday concert in Los Angeles on Dec. 1. We didn't even mind the jaguar applique on the bodice, or that high slit showing off her killer black heels!
Ugh! Lea Michele showed up to The Hollywood Reporter's 2017 Women in Entertainment Breakfast in Los Angeles on Dec. 6 in this unfortunate frock by designer Lela Rose. The boring dress, which was half covered in a floral design that really just reminded us of wallpaper, gave us major matronly vibes and the weird attempt at a slit didn't help matters.
Getting in the Christmas spirit? Gal Gadot rocked this gorgeous low-cut red design by Christian Dior at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in Los Angeles on Dec. 7. We loved the way she accessorized with black strappy heels and kept her hairstyle super-simple to focus all the attention on that stunning gown.
Yikes! Though she's typically one of our favorite style stars, Diane Kruger rocked this bizarre frock to a screening of "In The Fade" on Dec. 4. The multi-patterned dress by Halpern, which featured a high neck and one angled sleeve, confused more than it impressed. And her messy hairstyle didn't help matters either.
With a supermodel for a mom, it's only natural that Sailor Brinkley Cook has style in her blood! The model looked lovely in this strapless black jumpsuit, which she paired with shiny silver heels.
While we love Cardi B's tunes, this dress… not so much! The star showed up at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Toronto on Dec. 9 in a look that seemed heavily inspired by tinsel… way, way too much tinsel! The silver minidress featured plenty of shimmering embellishments and the matching and equally blinged-out boots brought this look to a sparkly overload.
Killing it, Kelly! Kelly Clarkson was on hand at iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball in Toronto on Dec. 9 looking sleek in an all-black look! We loved the minidress-and-tights combo and the way she incorporated gold with the belt, studded boots and hoop earrings.
At least it's… Christmas-y? Rita Ora attended the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball in London on Dec. 9 in this Santa-like ensemble. And though it's definitely festive, the fact that it looks more like a cozy bathrobe than a red carpet outfit lands it among the misses.
Allison Williams looked lovely at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in London on Dec. 3 rocking this floral-print one-shouldered gown by Alexander McQueen. The feminine frock featured a pink floral design with delicate pleated detailing. Our only complaint? The hint of a strange underskirt we can see showing through. Other than that, we adored it!
Pick one or the other, Gwen! Gwen Stefani arrived at the Domino x Fred Segal and CB2 Pop Up in Los Angeles on Dec. 7 in this loud printed long-sleeved romper. And while on its own, despite that busy fabric, the romper might have worked, when paired with equally eye-catching bright red thigh-high boots, it made for a mess of an outfit.
What a Betty! Alicia Silverstone stepped out for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association holiday celebration in Los Angeles on Dec. 8 in this gorgeous dark pink number. We loved all of it, from the ruffles and the deep neckline to the way she rocked that severely straight hairstyle.
