Though temperatures remain high in Hollywood, not all celeb style has been super-hot so far this month. In fact, many stars have left us at Wonderwall.com feeling lukewarm about the sartorial selections they made in September 2017. Rihanna, at least, was not guilty of this crime. The singer-actress stunned in a strapless lilac Molly Goddard fit-and-flare dress during the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna launch party at Harvey Nichols in London on Sept. 19. She completed her look, which was one of our favorites of the month, with laced Rene Caovilla shoes and breathtaking Chopard jewels. Now keep reading to see more of the best and worst celeb style moments of September 2017…

Jennifer Lawrence let loose her inner fairy princess in a gorgeous Dior gown with a full skirt and wrap bodice during the New York City premiere of "Mother!" on Sept. 13. We especially love the flowers she wore in her hair to add to her ethereal look.
Miley Cyrus dressed in theme for the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Sept. 23. The singer-actress wore a heart-print crop-top with a matching gloved duster and sheer pants over red underwear. Needless to say, we did not heart this look.

Reese Witherspoon rarely ventures outside of her fashion comfort zone, but when she does, she swings for the fences! The Oscar winner hit a homerun with the asymmetrical Stella McCartney LBD with an oversized bow on one shoulder that she donned for the London premiere of "Home Again" on Sept. 21.
Emma Stone wore a befuddling Louis Vuitton ensemble during the premiere of "Battle of the Sexes" in Los Angeles on Sept. 16. We count three different prints and three different types of fabric on the outfit, which is just too much for us. The getup consisted of a striped shirt-dress and a shiny jacket with leather trim.
Queen! Angelina Jolie looked regal in a stunning pleated Dior Haute Couture strapless dress during a special screening of "First They Killed My Father" in New York City on Sept. 14. Simple yet super-chic!
Mel B continued her love affair with anything-goes fashion during an "America's Got Talent" live show in Los Angeles on Sept. 20. The former Spice Girl wore a sheer beaded bodysuit with a cape and a long strip of fabric hanging from the waist with gray suede thigh-high boots. Bizarre? Yes. Boring? Never!
Kerry Washington topped the best dressed list in a black-and-white Carolina Herrera confection with embroidered polka dots and intricately crafted poof-sleeves during the Women Making History Awards in Los Angeles on Sept. 16.
We've been over the sheer trend for months now, but we'll give a pass to Halle Berry for the gorgeous Elie Saab gown she wore during the premiere of "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" in London on Sept. 18. The black halter dress featured a completely sheer skirt with velvety purple flower embellishments. The actress definitely had the glow of a woman who knows she looks good when she donned this getup!
Just because you're in Las Vegas doesn't mean you have free reign to dress like a showgirl, Heidi Klum! The supermodel gave us major cocktail waitress vibes — and not in a good way — in a gold fringe micro-minidress during the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Sept. 22.
The eternally chic Cate Blanchett played with prints and won at the Giorgio Armani presentation during Milan Fashion Week on Sept. 22. The Oscar winner wore a pantsuit by the fashion house — a double-breasted houndstooth-print jacket and matching loose-fitting slacks over a checkered button-down blouse — for one of our favorite looks of the month.
Nicole Richie usually tops our best dressed list, but we have to say: We hated the ensemble she wore during an outing in New York City on Sept. 27. The former reality TV star wore a loose-fitting, long-sleeved red top (dress?) with thigh-high slits and oversized black sequins over cuffed boyfriend jeans, which really threw off the whole look for us. Fortunately, it was just a rare fashion misstep for the "Great News" star…
On the same day as her minor fashion fail, Nicole Richie looked super-chic in an ankle-length cheetah-print coat, which she wore over a ruched gold skirt and mustard-yellow sweater. We especially love the way she complemented her sunny look with gold earrings and bronzy makeup.
The embellished Rodarte gown that Kirsten Dunst donned for the Los Angeles premiere of A24's "Woodshock" on Sept. 18 was practically a work of art. The lacy powder blue frock featured ruffled sleeves and a ruffled neckline, gold beadwork and an asymmetrical tiered skirt. Divine!
Jenna Dewan Tatum swam in a voluminous Zac Posen dress that was actually completely sheer on the sides during the premiere of "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" in London on Sept. 18. We just wish that the headline-making gown had used some of the extra fabric from the bust and bizarre hip panels to cover the actress-dancer's hiney!
Margot Robbie made an extremely rare fashion misstep in a white floral-print Brock Collection dress with poofy sleeves during the premiere of "Goodbye Christopher Robin" in London on Sept. 20. The look was unflattering enough before she decided to wear peachy eyeshadow and style her short 'do in the wet-hair trend. So disappointing!
So cute! Naomi Watts looked decades younger than her 48 years in the flirty pleated Christian Dior frock that she wore to the fashion house's presentation during Paris Fashion Week on Sept. 26. We especially appreciate the way she accessorized with a skinny black belt and black flats to complement the Dior branding on the straps of her dress.
Jemima Kirke donned an extremely ill-fitting strappy yellow dress during the Metropolitan Opera Opening Night Gala in New York City on Sept. 25. But we didn't hate everything about her look…
We actually love this shade of yellow on Jemima Kirke and the way that her pink veiled headpiece and bold red lips perfectly complemented her vintagey dress, which featured gold detailing down the middle. If only the curve-hugging frock fit the beauty better!
Mandy Moore donned a gorgeous Rosie Assoulin sheath with orange and navy panels, gold filigree details and one flower-embellished shoulder strap during the premiere of the second season of "This Is Us" in Los Angeles on Sept. 26.
We're all about the outfit Uma Thurman wore while celebrating her appearance on the cover of DuJour magazine at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge at Moxy Times Square in New York City on Sept. 25 — from the waist up, anyway! Unfortunately, she paired her button-down blouse and extra-long boyfriend blazer with — wait for it — drop-crotch shorts. Cringe.
Elsa Pataky might have looked sexy during a launch event for the new Women'secret campaign in Madrid on Sept. 20, but she also looked sadly far from chic in a lacy, sheer high-collar bodysuit and clashing metallic ba&sh miniskirt. These two pieces just don't go together, if you ask us.
We love Anna Chlumsky — and we REALLY love Christian Siriano, so we wanted to love the befuddling black gown by the designer that the "Veep" star donned during the Metropolitan Opera Opening Night Gala in New York City on Sept. 25. Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case. The dress featured an oversized peplum waist that made it look like the actress had squeezed a strapless, fit-and-flare LBD over a sexy, sheer sheath. Two-for-the-price-of-one fashion? No thanks!
Zoe Saldana is usually one of our favorite stars to keep an eye out for on the red carpet, but her fashion choices have been especially hit-or-miss of late. Unfortunately, the Armani Prive Couture dress she donned for the Green Carpet Fashion Awards Italia during Milan Fashion Week on Sept. 24 landed in the "miss" category. We love this hue on her, but the voluminous layered gown just looked like a mass of fabric that essentially swallowed her whole.
Nikki Reed looked gorgeous in a green floral-print Tadashi Shoji long-sleeved gown with a sheer skirt during the 27th Annual EMA Awards in Santa Monica, California, on Sept. 23. She added a fun pop of color with her shoes, which coordinated with the flowers on her frock.
Alicia Vikander risked a wardrobe malfunction in a stunning Louis Vuitton gown with a black bodice featuring a plunging neckline and a red-and-white print skirt during the 65th San Sebastian Film Festival premiere of "Submergence" on Sept. 22.
Carrie Bradshaw would NOT approve! The long-sleeved, floral-print frock that Sarah Jessica Parker wore during Airbnb's True York event in New York City on Sept. 26 was a total snooze. To make matters worse, her print pumps and chunky black-and-white belt totally clashed with her matronly dress. Next!
Emily Ratajkowski failed to impress in a wrinkly red Etam slip dress during the French fashion house's presentation that was part of Paris Fashion Week on Sept. 26. The yawn-worthy midi-length frock didn't appear to fit particularly well on the top, and to make matters worse, the model's strappy sandals and drawstring bag just made the whole ensemble look cheap.
Jordana Brewster turned heads in a long-sleeved J. Mendel illusion minidress with seashell designs in the lace during FOX's fall party at Catch restaurant in West Hollywood on Sept. 25.
What's black and white and dreaded all over? The newspaper-print dress that Yvette Nicole Brown wore during the Dynamic & Diverse Emmy reception in Los Angeles on Sept. 12. The print was bad enough, but sadly, the weird ties at the elbows, high collar and jagged hemline only made things worse. Less is more, Yvette!
Jennifer Lawrence made several public appearances in support of her film "Mother!" in September, and while many of her looks were fabulous (more on that to come!), the dress she wore during the Toronto Film Festival premiere of the thriller on Sept. 10 absolutely was not. J.Law's Dolce & Gabbana dress featured a corset top with oversized striped laces, a peplum waist and a sparkling midi-length skirt with a ruffled hem. Overall, there was just WAY too much going on here.
J'adore! Jennifer Lawrence donned a gorgeous ballerina-inspired Dior Haute Couture gown with a nude bodice and a voluminous skirt featuring floral appliqués during the Venice Film Festival premiere of "Mother!" on Sept. 5.
What happens when Little Bo Beep loses control in a Michaels craft store? We imagine something like the custom Lanotta Studio coat that Lady Gaga donned during the Toronto Film Festival premiere of her documentary, "Gaga: Five Feet Two," on Sept. 8. The superstar paired the bizarre top — which featured one houndstooth-print sleeve, multi-colored strips of fabric along the shoulders and collar and a jagged hemline — with shiny wide-leg pants that gave us major trash-bag vibes. No, no, no.
Selena Gomez looked retro-chic in the best way possible during the Harper's Bazaar Icons party as part of New York Fashion Week on Sept. 8. The singer-actress donned a long-sleeve blush Valentino dress with a high collar and added to the throwback vibe with her quasi-bouffant partial up-do. She added pops of color with her coral heels and green clutch.
Fashion critics were divided over the fierce custom yellow Oscar de la Renta ensemble that Rihanna donned while launching her latest Fenty Beauty collection during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 7. She paired a long-sleeve T-shirt tied at the waist with a voluminous skirt featuring a thigh-high slit that showed off her laced René Caovilla sandals. Whether you loved it or hated it, it was certainly one of the most memorable looks of the month — if not of the year!
Kim Kardashian West donned one of the most divisive looks of the month during the Tom Ford presentation as part of New York Fashion Week on Sept. 6. The mother of two squeezed into a curve-hugging strapless PVC dress by LaQuan Smith that had some fashion critics using the word "vulgar," while others (like us!) were simply left marveling over the latex creation's mechanics. We also loved the way her long silvery tresses complemented this slick look, and, hey, her body has literally never looked better!
Take note, folks! Emma Roberts usually knocks it out of the park with her street style, and she did not disappoint during an outing in New York City on Sept. 11. The actress paired a gingham-print crop top featuring a tie on the front with black high-waist jeans and leather Oxfords by Ash.
We love a redhead in red! Jessica Chastain stunned in a beaded tulle Zuhair Murad slip-gown during the Toronto Film Festival premiere of "Woman Walks Ahead" on Sept. 10. She channeled Old Hollywood with the rest of her look, with red lips, her long locks flowing in loose waves and one stunning diamond earring.
Demi Lovato also memorably rocked red this month. The singer-actress risked a wardrobe malfunction in a long-sleeve Bibhu Mohapatra dress with a giant cutout across the bodice during the Brent Shapiro Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Prevention Summer Spectacular in Beverly Hills on Sept. 9. Like Jessica Chastain, she rocked red lips and stuck to the hue with her manicure and velvety Gianvito Rossi heels. Get it, girl!
Julianne Moore wowed in a silvery fringed Valentino Couture confection that was practically a work of art during the Venice Film Festival premiere of "Suburbicon" on Sept. 2. We especially love the deep emerald detailing along the neckline and around the bodice. Gorgeous!
It's exceptionally rare for Jessica Biel to land among the worst-dressed stars of the month, but she somehow did just that during an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in New York City on Sept. 5. We loved her mini-skirt, which featured alternating black-and-pink embroidered panels with textured black panels. But her tuxedo-inspired, sheer polka-dot blouse was all wrong. We especially hated how the bodice looks like someone tied a shiny bib around her neck. (For those who haven't been keeping count, that's three contrasting prints and four different textures in one outfit.)
Nicki Minaj miraculously landed among the hits thanks to her turn in a stunning Oscar de la Renta gown during the Harper's Bazaar Icons party as part of New York Fashion Week on Sept. 8. Keep reading to get a closer look at why we're obsessed with this dress…
Nicki Minaj's jaw-dropping Oscar de la Renta dress featured embroidered hand-folded sequins and beads of various sizes in different shades of pink, blue and yellow. We probably could've done without her blingy diamond necklace, but we appreciate the way she kept her hair and makeup simple to keep the focus on her gown.
Have black slacks and a plaint white T-shirt ever looked this chic? No way! Victoria Beckham looked fabulous while putting in minimal effort during an outing in London on Sept. 5.
Kirsten Dunst modeled a perfect example of the right dress on the wrong girl during the Venice Film Festival premiere of "Woodshock" on Sept. 4. Her ethereal tiered Rodarte gown featured black polka dots, flower detailing at the cinched waist and a ruffled neckline. It's lovely, but we would've preferred it on Rodarte's other muse, Elle Fanning.
Nicole Kidman donned one of our favorite LBDs of the month during the Toronto Film Festival premiere of "The Upside" on Sept. 8. The 50-year-old beauty rocked a curve-hugging, midi-length, off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta dress with a ruffled neckline.
Katie Holmes wore our other favorite LBD of the month — a simple, form-fitted Zac Posen sheath — during a special screening of "House of Z," a documentary about the designer, in New York City on Sept. 7. See her face? That's the expression of a woman who knows she looks good!
Margot Robbie donned a look that's just SO in right now — a high-neck, long-sleeve, floral-print frock by Erdem — during a photo call for "I, Tonya" as part of the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 8. Cute!
We love Brie Larson, but we truly hate the Schiaparelli Couture dress she wore during the Toronto Film Festival premiere of "Unicorn Store" on Sept. 11. Though the multi-colored goddess gown featured a plunging neckline, it was overall far too matronly for the 27-year-old Oscar winner. The sparkly rectangular belt buckle also gave us major granny vibes.
Wow! We're used to seeing Sarah Silverman in low-key looks, so we were thrilled when she showed up in a stunning Galia Lahav Haute Couture confection to the Toronto Film Festival premiere of "Battle of the Sexes" on Sept. 10. The curve-hugging nude gown featured black lace overlay with a flower detail at the neck. The funny-woman has never looked better!
Karlie Kloss channeled Audrey Hepburn during an outing in New York City on Sept. 11. The model paired tailored red slacks with a high-neck black top and finished off her look with metallic flats and a loose-fitting boyfriend blazer for one of our favorite street-style moments of the month.
Ouch! Our eyes hurt from looking at Priyanka Chopra in the glaring Fendi ensemble she wore during the Toronto Film Festival premiere of "Pahuna: The Little Visitors" on Sept. 7. While the jacket or skirt would've been great on their own, it was just too much all together. (We do give her props, however, for pairing those black studded booties with the ankle-length pleated skirt.)
Helen Mirren's timeless sense of style was on full display when she turned up in a beautiful Sassi Holford dress with black floral embroidery to the Venice Film Festival premiere of "The Leisure Seeker" on Sept. 3.
Kate Bosworth rarely makes a fashion misstep, but she did just that during a dinner for Jason Wu Fragrance during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 8. The blonde beauty was simply swimming in a loose-fitting sheer sheath with velvety green detailing by the designer. Her austere up-do and oversized hoop-earrings added to the unbalanced effect created by the asymmetrical draping across the shoulder and waist.
She's still got it! Michelle Pfeiffer looked effortlessly chic in a curve-hugging Michael Kors Collection dress with a black-and-gold houndstooth-print during the Venice Film Festival premiere of "Mother!" on Sept. 5.
When you take as many fashion risks as Chloe Sevigny does, you're bound to screw up eventually. The fashion darling paired a bizarre jacket with poofy sleeves with bell bottoms in a different shade of black during an event celebrating the new third floor of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City on Sept. 8. Next!
Elsa Hosk donned a gold lamé cocktail dress by Wolk Morais from Collection 4 during the Victoria's Secret LOVE fragrance launch in New York City on Sept. 7. Unfortunately, between the high collar, oversized belt and asymmetrical draping, her dress gave us the impression that she'd traveled back in time to the '80s to raid the wardrobe department on the set of the original "Dynasty,"
Stella Maxwell gave us major Barbie vibes — but not in a good way! — in a pink Twinset gown with a thigh-high slit during the Venice Film Festival premiere of "Mother!" on Sept. 5. Sadly, her dark choker and black heels just make this whole ensemble look cheap.
