Though the custom Givenchy look's use of latex certainly played into the futuristic fashion theme of the night, it also spawned plenty of unflattering comparisons on social media. The worst one we saw? Someone on Twitter compared her dress to popped pimples. Ouch!

Gwyneth Paltrow received the Icon award at ELLE's 30th anniversary party in Madrid on Oct. 26 and showed up in this polarizing floor-length Gucci creation. The dress featured a sheer bodice — with a strategically placed flower — and ruffled cap sleeves. But not even a green fringed bottom in velvet, the fabric of the season, could save this look.
