Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the stars who found love, suffered heartbreak or experienced some other major event in their love lives in mid-September 2020, starting with this surprising news… On Sept. 6, Katie Holmes was snapped sharing a smooch with Emilio Vitolo while sitting in his lap at a restaurant in New York City, confirming recent reports that they're an item. (See photos here.) The 41-year-old actress and the 33-year-old chef first sparked romance rumors when they were snapped dining at a different NYC hotspot two nights earlier. They were spotted packing on the PDA again on Sept. 8, with the "Dawson's Creek" alum grinning from ear to ear. (See those photos here.) The following day, however, DailyMail.com dropped a major bombshell: Emilio was allegedly in a two-year relationship with another woman when he started seeing the A-lister. He reportedly dumped his live-in fiancée, 24-year-old Rachel Emmons, via text when he found out that photos of him and Katie canoodling were set to hit the internet. "Up to this press coming out Rachel had no idea what was going on. He is a cheater, and this isn't a 'happy ending' story," said a source. "They had concrete wedding plans in the works. … Now she is just left with bad press and forced to move home." The fashion designer — whom the source described as "traumatized" by the alleged infidelity — last shared a photo with Emilio on Instagram in late July. Now keep reading for more of the week's biggest celeb love life updates…

Zac Efron was snapped holding hands with Vanessa Valladares during a lunch date in Australia's Byron Bay on Sept. 4, confirming recent rumors they're an item. (See photos here.) Since then, she's reportedly quit her job and moved in with the actor at his rental home in Belongil Beach, where he's said to be eyeing a permanent move.

David Harbour and Lily Allen tied the knot in a ceremony officiated by an Elvis impersonator at a wedding chapel in Las Vegas on Sept. 7 — a day after they obtained a marriage license in Clark County, Nevada. "In a wedding officiated by the king himself, the people's princess wed her devoted, low born, but kind credit card holder in a beautiful ceremony lit by the ashen skies courtesy of a burning state miles away in the midst of a global pandemic. Refreshments were served at a small reception following," the "Stranger Things" star captioned a slideshow of photos from his wedding day, including a shot of himself, the singer and her two kids from a previous marriage indulging in In-N-Out Burger after the ceremony. The bride and groom, who were first linked in the summer of 2019, sparked engagement rumors earlier this year.

On Sept. 4, Page Six reported that Pamela Anderson and her full-time bodyguard of nearly two years, Dan Hayhurst, took their relationship to the next level sometime earlier this year. "The pandemic has been wild for Pamela. … She has a serious love interest," said a source, adding that the 53-year-old "Baywatch" alum's beau is in his 40s and "a real man." Said the source, "He knows how to handle her. It's very cool to see. She's completely comfortable, and they're never out of each other's sight. … He's not a Hollywood insider. That's perfect for Pamela." The duo have reportedly been "jetting around Canada, camping out at chic hotels" when they're not at her Vancouver compound, where he also lives. According to the insider, they're now "exclusive." A People magazine source echoed that the model-actress is "very happy" with her new boyfriend. "[They've] been together for a while … for the entire pandemic," added the insider, noting that Dan is helping the blonde beauty "fix up her home on Vancouver Island." As Pamela's new romance started making headlines, she took to Twitter to set the record straight about her relationship with Jon Peters — the producer whom she purportedly wed earlier this year. "[I] was never married to Jon Peters. It was just a bizarre lunch … no 'marriage' no 'divorce,'" she tweeted, adding in a second tweet that she and her "lifelong family friend" were "never legally married" and have "no hard feelings" toward each other. "[It was] just a bizarre theatrical lunch — [I have] a good sense of humor about it," she wrote.
People magazine reported on Sept. 7 that, according to a source, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West are "doing well" now that the rapper is in "a better mental state." However, "their marriage still needs work," said the source, noting that the reality star "is getting across" to her husband following a rough patch in their marriage earlier this summer. "He is not shutting her out and wants to be with his family," said the insider. Kim, meanwhile, "continues to be incredibly patient and understanding about Kanye's desire to run for president," said the source. "She just wants to get through the next few months peacefully. She is kind of standing back while Kanye does whatever makes him happy."
In other Kardashian love news… Us Weekly reported on Sept. 3 that amid their reported reconciliation, Khloe Kardashian can forgive — but not necessarily forget — off-and-on love Tristan Thompson's past bad behavior. "It is always a worry that Tristan can go back to his old ways, especially once he's on the road and working again, but they have spent so much time trying to heal from past wrongdoings, so this isn't her main focus at this point," said a source. "She wants to move on and eliminate that chapter from their lives, but not forget about it at the same time."
Us Weekly reported on Sept. 9 that, according to a source, Brad Pitt and his new girlfriend, Nicole Poturalski, have "a go-with-the-flow situation." However, the source noted that although the German model isn't "running around yelling about her love for Brad from the rooftops … going by what Brad's been saying, they are totally falling for each other." According to a second source, the A-list actor "doesn't want a girlfriend that he's with every day" and "has absolutely no plans nor any desire to ever get married again." That said, he thinks Nicole is "beautiful and kind" and loves her "carefree" attitude.
The Sun reported on Sept. 4 that, according to a source, Cara Delevingne and Halsey have been "hooking up" for the past "few weeks" and "having a laugh together." Curiously, their exes are also dating: The British model split from Ashley Benson earlier this year, while the singer's off-and-on romance with G-Eazy came to an end in late 2018 — the "Pretty Little Liars" alum and the rapper were first linked in May. "It's all very casual and just a bit of fun," a source told the British tabloid of Cara and Halsey. "Neither of them are particularly keen to be tied down and they're fine about seeing other people. They've both been very open about their sexuality and just want to enjoy themselves so they're both on the same wavelength. They're usually so busy and flying around the world, but as they've been stuck in Los Angeles in recent months, it's given them a chance to see each other. Cara has kissed her in front of friends and stuff. It's not a big deal for either of them. It's actually just funny to them that their exes are together now, and there's no hard feelings."
On Sept. 8, Kaia Gerber and Jacob Elordi were snapped holding hands in New York City following a dinner date, confirming recent rumors they've taken their relationship to the next level. (See photos of their PDA-packed outing here.) Earlier this month, there were reports that the duo, who run in the same social circles, were just friends. But E! News reported on Sept. 8 that, according to a source, the Australian actor and the model — who were also snapped heading to a gym together on Sept. 9 — are "definitely interested in each other," though they aren't in a hurry to label things. "Kaia is the one that doesn't want to be in an exclusive relationship right now. She has a lot of projects on her plate and wants her freedom," said the source. "She does love hanging out with Jacob and they are spending time in New York City for the week while she works." The insider added that the "Euphoria" star is "happy to see where things go for now." In the meantime, they're "spending a lot of alone time together … doing casual things like ordering their favorite food and relaxing at home." It's unclear when Jacob's rumored romance with Zendaya came to an end. Kaia, meanwhile, hasn't been publicly linked to anyone since she split from Pete Davidson late last year.
There's a new man in Mischa Barton's life: The actress-turned-reality star was snapped smooching photographer Gian Marco Flamini during a PDA-packed stroll through a Los Angeles park on Sept. 8. It's unclear how long they've been an item.
On the Sept. 9 episode of Nick Viall's "The Viall Files" podcast, Victoria Fuller revealed that her quarantine romance with Chris Soules recently came to an end. "We went a separate direction, but I respect him so much and I think he's an amazing man. I just think that right now, I'm in a different place than he is," she said. "I'm not moving to Iowa anytime soon, so I just want to focus on me. It's been so much about other people this year that I just really want to hone in on what I want to accomplish." Continued the Virginia-based beauty, who competed for Peter Weber's heart on season 24 of "The Bachelor" earlier this year, "I still talk to [Chris] all the time. I think he's amazing. We are a lot alike, but I just want to focus on myself right now. … It's complicated, but at the same time, I'm just living my life. … He is an amazing man, and he deserves somebody super-awesome who's willing to go to Iowa and live in Iowa. And right now, I'm not there yet. Maybe I will be in a couple years."
On Sept. 3, Camila Mendes took to Instagram to confirm her rumored romance with Grayson Vaughan. "That long distance kind of love," the "Riverdale" actress captioned a photo of herself embracing the photographer on the tarmac in front of a private plane. The duo first sparked romance rumors when they started stepping out together earlier this year.
Armie Hammer is single and ready to mingle! On Sept. 2, he and Rumer Willis were snapped walking in Los Angeles with their arms wrapped around each other. (See photos here.) A few days later, People magazine published photos of the actor looking cozy during a West Hollywood lunch date with Josh Lucas's ex-wife and off-and-on partner of nearly a decade, Jessica Ciencin Henriquez. At one point during their outing, the writer could be seen touching the actor's face. According to Page Six, it was their first date, but when the New York Post's gossip column contacted Jessica for comment, she downplayed the situation, remarking, "That's just me having lunch." According to a People magazine source, the "Call Me by Your Name" star is simply enjoying his newly single status after separating from his wife of a decade, Elizabeth Chambers, earlier this year. "He and his ex were together since he was 20 years old so he's just going out and meeting people but not dating anyone," said the insider. As for Jessica, she told People of Armie, "He seems like a very sweet guy, but he reminded me a bit too much of someone else."
Sofia Richie may be reconnecting with a former love — and, no, not Scott Disick. On Sept. 5, the model was snapped looking cozy with childhood sweetheart Jaden Smith during a day at the beach in Malibu. (See photos here.) "They spent the afternoon playing on the beach together with friends. But Sofia and Jaden only had eyes for each other," a spy told E! News. "They swam in the water together and wrapped their arms around each other. They held hands as they went in and out of the water and then they pulled each other in for a hug. … They were smiling at each other and very flirty the entire day. They seemed comfortable together." But that's not where the fun ended: After they left the beach, the duo — who dated back in 2012 when they were both 14 — spent "several hours" dining at Nobu with pal Moisés Arias and his girlfriend. They then departed in the same car. "Sofia was in a great mood and never stopped smiling," continued the spy. "She seems to be having a lot of fun and is very happy. She and Jaden went back to a friend's house for the night."
On Sept. 3, Tomi Lahren took to Twitter to shoot down rumors she's dating Jay Cutler. "I love it when the internet tells me who I'm dating. Good one," she tweeted. The following day, the former professional football played also took to social media to address the buzz about his love life, captioning a video with one of his female cows on Instagram, "Only lady in my life. Be better internet." The romance rumors kicked off after a witness saw the Fox News personality "enjoying a nice night out" with Kristen Cavallari's estranged husband at a bar in Nashville in late August. "[They] were having a lot of fun together at a table along with two other friends," the spy told E! News. "Tomi and Jay were passing a bottle of tequila back and forth and taking shots together directly from the bottle. … [They] left together." A second E! source, however, maintained that the duo "are just friends." The conservative talking head called off her engagement to Brandon Fricke earlier this year.
Earlier this summer, Elle Macpherson sparked rumors that she and her boyfriend of several years, controversial former doctor Andrew Wakefield, are engaged when she was seen wearing an eye-catching sparkler on her ring finger. The bling prompted multiple Australian media outlets to report that the supermodel is gearing up to tie the knot. But on Sept. 9, The Daily Telegraph published a statement from the Aussie beauty's rep insisting that she "frequently wears her Yoga ring on her 'wedding' finger" and that reports she's set to wed are just rumors.
Us Weekly reported on Sept. 3 that, according to a source, Kacey Musgraves "has been really upset about her split" from Ruston Kelly — even though "she was the one who initiated" the breakup. The insider added that the chart-topper's estranged husband "could act in a way that came off as controlling" during their marriage. The duo have publicly shown support for one another on social media since announcing their breakup in July.
On Sept. 6, former "One Tree Hill" star James Lafferty took to Instagram to announce that he and "The Royals" actress Alexandra Park are engaged. "She said yeah," he captioned a snuggly selfie. The duo have reportedly been an item since 2018.
On Sept. 3, Charles Dance debuted his relationship with Alessandra Masi: The 73-year-old "Game of Thrones" alum and the 53-year-old Italian film producer were snapped kissing in the ocean off the coast of Venice, Italy, while in town for the 2020 Venice International Film Festival. (Check out their swimsuit bods here.) The duo reportedly connected on the 2018 set of "The Book of Vision" — he starred while she served as a unit production manager.
Us Weekly reported on Sept. 3 that, according to a source, Jennifer Garner and her ex-boyfriend, John Miller, are still on good terms following their recent split. "Jen says John brought her back to life," said the source, noting that the relationship "just wasn't meant to be." Continued the insider, "He made her feel beautiful, confident and sexy. He came into her life at a low point and became someone very significant." The source went on to say that John taught the actress "that there were men who could be trusted" after her painful split from ex-husband Ben Affleck. According to a second source, "John was ready to propose — they had many conversations about marriage — but Jen couldn't see herself married to him. He was devastated; he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her."
During an interview with People magazine that hit the Internet on Sept. 9, Niecy Nash revealed how she met and fell in love with her new wife, Jessica Betts: They first connected on social media in 2015 while the actress was still "happily married" to her second husband, Jay Tucker. "[We] were friends, but I never saw her as someone I would date," said the three-time Emmy nominee, adding that things changed following her divorce. "I loved [Jessica] before I was in love with her because she is such a special human being. But we began to see each other in a way we never had before. Sometimes you get so broken by love, you run from it. But I've learned that you should always hold space for magic because it can happen at any time." The "Claws" star went on to call the singer-songwriter "the greatest love of my life." Their marriage, she said, "has absolutely nothing to do with gender" and "everything to do with her soul." Gushed Niecy of her missus, "She is the most beautiful soul I have ever met in my life." As for her sexuality, which came as somewhat of a surprise to fans who didn't realize Niecy has been romantically involved with women, "I love who I love," she said. "At one point in my life, I married twice and I love those people. And today I love this person. I've done everything I wanted to do on my own terms and my own way. So my choice now in a partner has nothing to do with who I've always been. It's a matter of who I am in this moment. … I don't feel like my marriage is my coming out of anywhere, but rather a going into myself and being honest about who I love. And I'm not limiting myself on what that love is supposed to look like."
On the Sept. 6 episode of their "Whine Down" podcast, Jana Kramer and Mike Caussin revealed that he actually filed for divorce when they separated back in 2016 in the wake of his cheating scandal. At the time, she was competing on "Dancing With the Stars" and he was seeking treatment for sex addiction. She found out about his plans to legally end their marriage through her manager, she said. She then read a passage from their upcoming book, "The Good Fight," describing that period of time: "Mike was in rehab and I was in an all-out war with my emotions. Most days, I would push Mike out of my brain and tried to live in the world as if he didn't exist. Other days I was too weak to push and I missed him and I hoped he would be in the audience watching me perform, rooting for me," she read. "Regardless of how I was feeling, whenever he would call me from rehab, I would lash out at him and tell him I didn't want anything to do with him. I would hang up and realize that I had no idea what direction my life was headed in or what I should do. The only times that gave me calm was when I looked at our baby [daughter Jolie]. I knew that regardless of the outcome, I wanted the best for her." When she found out the former professional football player had filed for divorce, she "called him screaming, 'How could you file for divorce? That's what I'm supposed to do! How dare you!'" Mike replied by reminding her that she hadn't let him see Jolie in months. That's when she realized she wanted to make their marriage work, she said. Explained Mike of his decision to file for divorce, "I was just forcing your hand. I was like, 'All right, if you don't let me see my daughter, I'm going to do what I need to do to protect myself and see her.'" Although the singer-actress understood his decision, she would've liked some advance warning, she said. Ultimately, they reconciled. Read Mike, "There are so many days during the first year of our reconciliation, after the discovery of my affairs, when we thought, 'What the f*** is going on?' Honestly, most days were like that. Needless to say, many of those days were filled with pain and hurt and sadness and despair. But even throughout those days of misery, we were both still there. We both continued to show up despite the fact that all it would take to end the pain was a signature at the bottom of divorce papers."
Jed Wyatt took to Instagram on Sept. 6 to announce that he and his girlfriend of about a year, Ellen Decker, are moving in together: "Excited to begin this new chapter with you in our own place and space. May it be filled with spicy margaritas, sweaty workout clothes, and many many memories. Now, let's get some new furniture for Bo to chew on!" the aspiring country star — who created controversy while competing for Hannah Brown's heart on season 15 of "The Bachelorette" — captioned a photo of himself and the model.
On Sept. 8, People magazine broke the news that Texas Hill singer Adam Wakefield, who was the runner-up on the 10th season of "The Voice" in 2016, got engaged to his girlfriend of nearly a decade, country singer and "Nashville" actress Jenny Leigh, while vacationing with her family in Maryland earlier this month. He reportedly popped the question with a black diamond sparkler at a lakeside restaurant. "I knew I wanted to propose to Jenny in front of her family. They're such great people and I already feel like they treat me like family," he said. "I was originally going to put [the ring] in a crab shell, but luckily I was talked out of that one. The most important thing was that I wanted to surprise her. … She had NO IDEA it was coming, so I think I got her pretty good."
Kathie Lee Gifford took to Instagram on Sept. 7 to announce that her son, Cody Gifford, married longtime love Erika Brown over Labor Day weekend. "God gave us a glorious day to celebrate this glorious couple. So grateful," the former "Today" show star captioned a wedding photo. The bride also shared a wedding photo, which she captioned, "Happily Ever After."
Denise Richards took to Instagram on Sept. 8 to celebrate her second wedding anniversary with her husband, Aaron Phypers. "Happy 2nd Anniversary my [love] …. so blessed & grateful to have you as my soul mate, twin flame, partner in crime, confidant, best friend, lover, best daddy to Eloise, & our menagerie of beautiful furry misfits, best step dad ever, most supportive of my career, I know my [late] mom brought us together & I couldn't imagine going through this beautiful journey with anyone other than you. I love you so much," she captioned a slideshow of photos from their wedding day. The duo have spent the bulk of 2020 hitting back at Brandi Glanville's allegations that she and Denise hooked up in early 2019.
In other anniversary news… Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka took to Instagram on Sept. 6 to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary. "Six years ago. Perhaps the happiest day of my life. Since then, thousands of memories. No regrets. Thank you, David, for both creating and rocking my world. I am forever #grateful," the former child star captioned a photo from their 2014 nuptials. David, meanwhile, captioned a different wedding photo, "Six years ago today @nph and I got hitched. Thanks for dancing into my heart. I can't believe you stuck around after all these years of me annoying you. You have made my heart complete. Thank you for the best times of my life. #6yearanniversary."
During a Sept. 3 appearance on FUBAR Radio, Mary Fitzgerald slammed recent reports that she and husband Romain Bonnet faked their late-2019 nuptials for "Selling Sunset." Said the reality star, "Our wedding was absolutely real. We invited all of our friends and family. We didn't tell anybody [about our early 2018 civil union]. We just signed the paper for personal reasons, and then we wanted to wait until we could have our real wedding. Romain's never been married before. A wedding didn't mean that much to me. I was happy to just go on a beach in Bali, and I tried very hard to do that actually — no cameras, no anything, just our closest friends. And so we just waited until we could plan and do the wedding like we wanted." She added of their decision to privately tie the knot before their big wedding, "It's not that big of a deal. … People sign a certificate all the time before they do their actual wedding."
In other "Selling Sunset" love news… During a Sept. 2 interview with "Entertainment Tonight," Chrishell Stause said she's "completely single" but "excited to mingle" in the wake of her breakup from Justin Hartley. Although "a few" potential suitors have slid into her DMs recently, she hasn't "taken the next step" with anyone yet, she said, adding that "because of COVID, I haven't done much mingling." She has responded "in a polite way," though! The former soap star teased that some of the men who've hit her up are fellow celebs. "I feel so weird. But yes, that has been a nice surprise," she said of the attention.
During an interview with People magazine that popped up online on Sept. 9, Drew Barrymore said that although she's "a hopeless romantic," she's not interested in marrying again after three marriages that ended in divorce. "Never. Never, never, never. I will never get married again!" she said. "And I also believe people should not say the word 'never,' and I will never, with a capital N-E-V-E-R, never get married. It's like I have two options: Cut it — this has not worked — or be Elizabeth Taylor. And I have too many more to go. I never want to be entwined with someone like that again ever. You break up, and you move on. You get divorced, and it's just so different. I love that we are trying to hold on to an institution that [started] when the closest person to you for companionship was a three-day horse ride away and your life span was 30 years." That doesn't mean she's sworn off relationships, though: "[I might] like to meet someone, especially when my kids go off to college," she said. "Or a year from now, I could be totally in love. I'm open to it; I'm not seeking it. My cup runneth over. I have so much love in my life." She's even tried online dating recently! "I went on a couple of dates," she revealed. "A lot of people totally ghosted me. And one time I was waiting to go on a date, and at the time we were supposed to meet he just wrote, 'Yeah, I can't.' But I'd rather hang out with my friends."
During an interview with The New York Times that hit the Internet on Sept. 2, Jane Fonda cleared up an urban legend about her love life: that her "greatest regret" is passing up on the opportunity to hook up with Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara. "I don't think about him," she said. "Who I do think about, and what is a great regret, is Marvin Gaye. He wanted to and I didn't." At the time, the actress was married to her second husband, political activist Tom Hayden. "I was meeting a lot of performers to try to do concerts for Tom and the woman who was helping me do that introduced me to Marvin Gaye," she explained. When journalist Maureen Dowd asked Jane if the "Let's Get It On" singer offered to give her "sexual healing," she replied, "I needed some but he didn't say that, no. But then I read, apparently he had my picture on his refrigerator. I didn't find that out until later, after he was dead." Marvin died in 1984, six years before the Oscar winner's second marriage came to an end. She also reflected on her love life during an interview with The Guardian that popped up online on Sept. 5: "I always wanted to date someone who was the opposite of my father," she said of her dad, acclaimed actor Henry Fonda. "I didn't realize that, in the ways that really mattered, I picked men who were just like him because they all had a hard time with intimacy." She then explained her attraction to strong-willed men: "Whenever I've been with men who are not strong I've had a really hard time," she said. "I'm now five years older than my dad was when he died and I've realized that I am, in fact, stronger than he was. I'm stronger than all the men that I've been married to." The thrice-married star concluded by saying she's no longer interested in dating: "[That part of my life] is gone. I can tell. It's just over — I've closed up shop. I'm extremely happy on my own," she said.
In a NikkieTutorials video that popped up on YouTube on Sept. 6, Selena Gomez said of former loves including Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, "Every one of my exes thinks I'm crazy." Added the singer-actress, "I don't care." She also joked of potentially tying the knot someday that her wedding "is never gonna happen." Explained the "Lose You to Love Me" chart-topper, who's currently single, "It's hard to [date] in quarantine." She then made it clear that her complaint "is also not an invitation" for anyone to ask her out. "It's just funny that I release things that say 'I want a boyfriend' and stuff. … And I'm like, 'No, I didn't really mean it, though.' Guys are a lot of work."
